Phoebe’s search for family ended so abruptly when she found them

It always makes me wonder why Phoebe is shown over several seasons to want to connect with her father, but when she finally meets Frank we never see or hear about him again.

I also wonder why Phoebe’s birth mom seemingly drops off the face of the earth after a few episodes. Phoebe’s character often seems to yearn for the family connection she’s missed out on despite being super independent. It seems unrealistic that she’d spend so long searching for Frank to then never discuss or see him again. She also seemed to hit it off with mom-Phoebe so what happened?!

Indigenous Canadian looking to chat with an Indigenous Hawaiian about Pele’s Curse

Without going into detail just yet, I believe my family was cursed when someone gifted my mother a lava rock. I begged her to find someone to return it as soon as I saw it, but it lived in my home for the next 20 years. My family’s ultimate “ending” is something I’ve been desperately trying to heal from. Unfortunate and traumatizing events seemed to come non-stop until I’ve found myself as the only one left. I no longer have the rock in my possssion, but it was left in the hands of a trash removal service and have no idea where it may have ended up - or I’d be working as hard as I could to return it to the islands.

I am an Anishinaabe woman and have always believed in the spiritual power of our legends, land, and medicines. I would like to discuss with someone willing to share any teachings they may carry regarding Pele’s curse and discuss further.
