Ice Cream with a View?

My partner is recovering from a serious illness and needs a nap every 2 or 3 hours. Still, he's getting really bored of being home and around town so I'm trying to plan a little road trip. I'm picturing driving for about an hour, getting a sweet treat (or maybe even a bit of lunch) to eat somewhere outside and nice to look at. Then we'd go home for his nap. Does anyone have any ideas for some place close to Sudbury, but not too close? TIA

Neighbourhood in Sudbury

Moving to Sudbury and trying to learn more about different neighborhoods/areas before deciding where to live.

One thing I’m curious about is long-term environmental/water quality considerations, especially in areas closer to historical or active mining activity (for example around Copper Cliff/Copper Street areas).

Are there neighborhoods in Greater Sudbury that locals generally consider better for:

  • water quality / less concern about contamination
  • newer infrastructure or pipes
  • overall family living
  • good resale value and long-term stability

Not trying to offend anyone — just genuinely trying to understand the area better as someone relocating. Would appreciate honest local insight from people who know Sudbury well.

Cheap bird and squirrel food

Hi! I really like to feed birds and squirrels in my backyard. I want to know if there is some budget friendly way to feed them? Is there any place that sells them at better price in bulks other than Costco or Canadian tire?

Underrated less crowded spots to sit and enjoy in Sudbury

Anybody recommend a good less crowded spots to sit and enjoy nature near a water body or a scenic view. A bench to sit would be great too. Any suggestions?

Look up, look way up! The Superstack keeps coming down - Northern Ontario Business

I just came across this article about the current removal of the Superstack, and was thrown off by their goals of hiw much they want to remove this year.

As someone that spent over a decade keeping that thing together while it was needed.

I find this year's goal to remove over 280' unrealistic to last year's 105' of stack removal.

The reason is because the concrete gets thicker as you come down.

The top 105' is the thinnest. And while there are some hollow points in the stack above 900' from the ground that were never fixed during my tenure even though we pushed to get them fixed.

Unless I'm unaware of some new equipment that will go through concrete faster even though it's thicker. I believe their goal of removal this year is unrealistic.

Missing Cat - Remi

West end location!! Please message 705-207-6637 if you have any helpful info. Posting on behalf of him being the neighborhood cat, not my cat personally. Fluffy tailed orange cat, usually has a collar that jingles.

Accident at Intersection of Lorne and Regent St. South

There is a fire truck and police car - with what I saw was a car loaded up pn a tow on the 2 lanes going south (towards Copper Cliff).

I had to detour around the west end to get back onto Lorne from Douglas, Whittaker, Haig, and Edna.

Edit: I did this at approximately 6:10 pm. I don't know details because I ain't gonna looky-lou. Don't know how long it will be like whatever it is.

Threatened Downtown

What is happening in our city? I was walking home from work this evening, walking past the rainbow center when one of the many drug addicts around the bus depot saw fit to start harassing me and threatening my life unprovoked. He started following me, shouting "Hey white man, hey white dude fuck you! I'm going to fucking kill you!". He kept shouting at me for about 5 minutes until I managed to walk fast enough to get out of his eyeline.

What the hell is wrong with people?

Anyway, be careful out there folks. The guy was about 5'8 and had a thin mustache and goatee and longish, greasy hair. Dirty, baggy red jacket or hoodie. Was pacing in front of the Chinese restaurant outside of the mall.

Looking for a photographer to secretly capture my proposal — Killarney / Manitoulin / SSM area

So I’ve been going down a rabbit hole of proposal photos from Banff and I’m fully obsessed. The ones where the photographer is hidden somewhere nearby and just captures the whole thing as it happens — no posing, no awkward “okay now look at each other” stuff. Just the real moment.
I want to do something like that but in Northern Ontario. We’re based in Toronto and I’ve been scouting spots around Killarney (The Crack specifically), Manitoulin Island, and the Sault / Algoma Highlands area. Open to other suggestions if you know a spot that would blow someone’s mind.
Has anyone done something like this up there? Or know a photographer who actually hikes and isn’t just doing backyard engagement shoots? Ideally someone who knows the trails, can get into position without being obvious, and is good at candid work.
Not looking for anything super formal — just someone who can capture that one moment properly without her knowing they’re there.
Any recs appreciated, DMs open too
