Little visitor, but which type of thrush?

This little person arrived to say hello on our decking. What a lovely visitor; what joy! Just wondering what type of thrush he/she is? Are they fairly young? Looked happy and chubby enough and in good condition 🥰

Turning an astroturf wasteland into a garden

Hi there 🤗 we might be moving to a house where the back garden is just decking and a long, fully astroturfed football pitch. I have no idea where to start to get rid of that horrible astroturf.

It is a really lovely, sunny spot, despite being a northwest facing garden. Good, Welsh soil.

I also have 12 lovely David Austin roses all ready, dug up and in pots ready for the move - with no borders to put them in yet 😅

So it’s going to be a busy summer! Would really, really appreciate any advice about getting rid of the astroturf. 👍🏽

Tiny, perfect, miniature rose found in garden.

Hello and good morning from very the sunny South Wales valleys 🤗☀️

We moved into this house a year ago, planted in my lovely DA roses, which have done brilliantly.

Anyway, the question is - I found this tiny, nearly dead rose, half buried under a broken wood structure. I have spent the last year nurturing it and it’s doing brilliantly! Look how jolly and bright she is 🤗

The leaves are also small and she has tiny, but not very sharp thorns. She’s getting a bit tall and leggy now, but look at her gorgeous little flowers. 🌼

I would dearly love to know what she is, and I have tried google image search but I can’t really tell from that.

I have all my roses in pots again, as sadly we are going to have to move again this summer (never again!) and I am taking this absolute little princess with me.

Can anyone help with her ID please?

A little humour, hope this is allowed 🌿

I happened to come across this post in a translation group, it’s an ancient Chinese poem about bamboo. A cautionary tale!

Which owl is this?

Hello there 🤗

This was recorded at just after midnight, and we’ve heard this owl many times now. The call is too quick for the Cornell app to pick it up. I’m wondering if anyone else can identify please?

There is also a tawny owl which the app has easily identified as the call is much longer. Thank you so much, we are just learning about the beautiful South Wales countryside and birds, having only moved here last summer ☀️
