IGNOU Admission Process

This is for IGNOU students who took admission recently and also for people who are planning to take admission.

IGNOU conducts admissions twice every year in June and December. The overall experience depends a lot on the course you choose, so before taking admission, it is important to check the syllabus carefully and choose a course that matches your interests and knowledge. For admission, visit the official IGNOU Admission portal, fill in your details, and upload the required documents such as photo, signature, 10th and 12th certificates, Aadhaar card, and any additional documents if required (reservation, income certificate, nativity, etc.). After submission, admission confirmation usually takes anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months, and you will receive confirmation through email.

Once admission is confirmed, you can create your account on Samarth IGNOU portal to check your subjects and academic details.

Then you should wait for minimum 6 months to start your course. While you get the class schedule from your regional center or study centre, then assignment submission begins. After submitting assignments, you need to fill out the exam form to appear for the term-end examination, and hall tickets will be released later. Around the same time, re-registration for the next semester/year will also open, and it has to be completed on time. Results and assignment marks are generally updated around 3 months after exams, though delays can happen.

The basic process is: Admission → Assignment Submission → Re-registration → Exam Form → Exams → Results. If your course includes practicals, you must register for them while filling the exam form so you can attend practical classes and practical exams. Regular theory classes, if conducted, depend on the study centre you choose during admission, so it is better to select a centre near your location since you may need to visit occasionally. IGNOU usually requires students to manage most things on their own, so regular follow-up is important. Some staff members may help, but it is better not to depend completely on officials.

If your course have project or dissertation or internship to be done, contact your regional centre for details and all.

Exams evolve, preparation must too.

IGNOU appears to be focusing more on conceptual understanding and application-based questions rather than relying heavily on previous-year question patterns. While previous papers are still useful for understanding the exam format, they are no longer sufficient on their own. Students who prepared thoroughly from the study material generally found the paper more manageable.

Prepare accordingly ignou students

Just exam things!

Attention IGNOU Students,

As the examinations begin on 1st June 2026, we would like to wish all students appearing for their exams today the very best.

Stay fresh, calm, and confident. Trust your preparation and give your best.

Avoid last-minute cramming, as it can increase stress and confusion. Eat light, stay hydrated, and approach the examination with a positive mindset.

Read the question paper carefully, manage your time effectively, and answer with confidence.

Please ensure that you follow all instructions given by the invigilators and examination authorities.

Wishing all IGNOU students success in their examinations. Good luck.
