Urologist vs. Urogynecologist?
Dealing with a prolapse (urethrocele or something like it). Already set myself up with PFPT, and the practitioner said it was a grade 2. Yesterday, gyno was like, “Huh, well, you have a prolapse of some sort, let’s send you to urology to make sure there’s no mass causing it. Keep going to PFPT and if you’re not seeing improvement, we’ll refer you to a urogynecologist.”
I’ve learned to be proactive and advocate for myself in the US healthcare system. So I’m wondering if the stop in urology is just a waste of time and I should skip it and go straight to a urogynecologist? I feel like they’d also be able to evaluate for some sort of mass. Right?
FWIW, no kids but I lift weights (heavy) and my PFPT told me when I brace, I shift the pressure down and shouldn’t be. So, I likely did this to myself (yay). Just trying to figure out the best way to approach trying to fix it.
