Built EZLibrary, a free open source Serato library manager for Mac. Looking for the community to help make this the tool everyone actually needs.
Hey everyone,
Quick thing before I get into the app. You've probably seen the flood of "vibe coded" DJ apps lately, thrown together fast, priced like a finished product, abandoned six months later with zero updates. Meanwhile it's got full write access to your library and nobody's answering issues anymore. Charging DJs for that really just doesn't sit right with me.
So here's EZLibrary, and honestly, I don't want this to be another solo project that fizzles out. I think it can become something the whole community leans on, but only if people chip in.
I'm a DJ myself, and got tired of tracks going missing after moving drives, messy tags, adn no easy way to consolidate scattered music without digging through Serato's database by hand. Built EZLibrary to fix that for my own library, figured other people here deal with the same stuff.
What it does:
- Finds and fixes missing/broken tracks without wrecking cues or beat grids
- Catches duplicates by fingerprinting the audio, not just the filename
- Bulk tag editing and metadata lookups
- Full crate browsing, smart crates included
- Consolidates music scattered across drives, rewrites Serato's paths for you
- Backs up before every write, atomic writes, read-back verification
Why I'm upfront about trust:
- Free and open source, GPLv3, full engine on GitHub
- 230+ automated tests, byte-exact test against a real 1,343 track library
- 180+ commits in the open, 8 releases, roughly monthly
- Won't run while Serato's open, since that's when it can overwrite your library from memory
- Not affiliated with Serato Audio Research, just reads/writes their file format

Here's the real ask. I don't want to be the only one keeping this alive. I'd rather it become something the community builds together, so DJs get one solid, trustworthy, free tool instead of paid apps that show up and disappear. If any of this sounds like you:
- Jump into the code — engine, UI, wherever you're strong. CONTRIBUTING.md in the repo, some issues tagged for newcomers.
- Test it on your own library — everyone's setup is different, that's how bugs get found.
- Tell me what's missing — what's still annoying that this doesn't touch yet?
- Or just give feedback — even "this confused me" helps.
