I'm taking a friend out fishing in a couple of days, and I'm bringing lunch. Buddy and his dad are muslim, so I need to make lunch halal. My buddy just texted me that his dad doesn't eat red meat of any kind either (and his dad is visiting from India). When I take people fishing, the meals I prep are an important part of the fun so I don't want to just dial it in, but most of this is outside my knowledge.

So, ideas for lunch that are:

• vegetarian (which makes it halal automatically)
• tasty and filling
• easy for me to make
• can be made the day before, and will travel for the day in a cooler
• bonus if it's indian?
• Easy to eat while travelling or in the boat.

There is an indian food store within driving distance, so I could make a trip in if there's sort of pre-made things that can be bought. I just don't really know where to start.

Help? please :).

Got a last minute opening to go fishing tomorrow. Lake Simcoe, pickup in Waterloo at 6am, return late afternoon burdened with an abundance of fish. Everything provided, transportation, equipment, bait, lunch (lunch is already prepped, and it's not halal), etc. You need a fishing license for the day and dressed for a day in the sun at 25C.

First one to post 'im in' commits to coming and gets a spot in the boat. It's last minute, so please only commit if you're commited and able to come for sure.

Also, first trip in the new boat!

Trip is unaffiliated and unofficial. Just me going fishing...in my new boat :).

This weekend is free fishing weekend in ontario - you can fish without a fishing license. And the weather looks great, so a good time to take dad out.

• you will need to purchase a one day fishing license which you can do online, I think they are 10-15 dollars

'sup nerds?

I'm going foraging for ramps early tomorrow morning with my son's gf and a rando waterloo person. I have room for two UW students, first two that say I'm in, come with.

Deets:

• I'll pick you up tomorrow in waterloo at 7am. Return before noon.
• I'm a dad-level old UW alumni
• We are going to a private chunk of bush on a farm where we have permission. Wear appropriate shoes.
• Ramps are the first harvestable food that comes up in the spring. They're sort of a cross between garlic and onion I guess? Anyway, they're tasty.
• Last year my son and I also stumbled across some morel mushrooms, so maybe we get lucky this year as well. Morel mushrooms are very sought after.
• Trip is unofficial and unaffiliated, just me going for a walk in the bush and bringing some folks along.
