Do we go a wider tyre?

Just slapped on 245/35/18’s on 18x9 +40 RS05-RR’s, being AD09’s I was hoping they’d run a little wider. What do we think, chuck in another degree of camber and size up to 255/35/18’s or leave it as it is?

I do have RLCA’s and coils so I’ve got a bit of adjustment to play with suspension wise.

A big step up from the last gen

Many moons ago I owned a Toyota GTS 86 (Basically a premium trim FRS for my yank friends out there), and I have to say the new car is a massive step up. The suspension is much more dialed in, the new car is significantly faster, an extra 50nm and 25kw doesn’t sound like a lot on paper but I think it’s more about the availability of the torque all throughout the mid band up to red line.

My only complaint is the electric steering in the new gen cars lacks a little bit of feel around the centre of the rack. It’s almost like the car doesn’t re-centre the wheel in the last 8th of a turn. I will head out for alignment soon to see if I can get that feeling a bit better. Might also try some firmer bushes for the rack.

In terms of the future of the car, I’ve got Enkei RS05rr’s that have just rocked up, coilovers from shockworks on the way, STI Brembo’s I’m restoring and have slapped on an Invidia N2 exhaust for now. Next year we might grab a turbo kit if I have the time and left over funds 😂

I cannot stress enough that this is probably the last time we’ll see a raw light weight 6 speed manual like this in our life time, if you’re thinking about getting one, do it.
