This little one fell off ahead of schedule?

This little one fell off ahead of schedule?

It's supposed to be red. If I put it in the window, do y'all think it will ripen/redden a little more or should I go ahead and enjoy what I've got?

Is this too much sun?

Planted: varieties of tomato; ichiban eggplants; Thai, bell, and shishito peppers; pickling cucumbers.

Also, lavender, lemongrass, cilantro, basil, Thai basil, mint, marigolds, lantana

Temperature reads 82, heat index 90, humidity 65%.

We fed and watered all the veggies Sunday. No rain since. Today is Tuesday and my tomatoes looked so sad when I stepped out at lunch time (I WFH).

How often do you water your veggies, esp those of you also using containers?

This pic was taken at 115p EDT. Factoring in the above conditions, should anything be moved to shadier spots now that summer is bullying its way into the South?

Pollinator Houses

So, I'd like to buy one (woodworking tools and THIS klutz don't go well together) but I want to make sure it's the RIGHT one. I don't want to get something that's gonna do more harm than good. Anyone know of one I could purchase that would be safe and effective for these little helpers? Or one I could put together.

Seriously, if I wanna keep my fingers, I should leave woodworking to the pros.

Dog Puke

I have a 9 year old Chi-Possibly Jack Russell Mix who yakked a few times over the weekend and is now just puking up saliva and yellow foam. I know that's probably bile. She has refused her usual morning treats but is alert, responsive. I acted like I was excited about something earlier and she perked up like she wanted to get excited too. Normal behavior for her.

What can I offer her that will keep her hydrated but not further upset her digestive system?

On repurposing kitchen tools and tomato questions-- Southeast NC, USA

First, if you're in need of a hammer for, say, driving stakes into soil and you can't be bothered to rifle through the cluster#$&@ that is the tool box, you grab the item in the first picture.

Now for the questions!

Second, what the hell is this and why the hell was it on my tomato leaf?

Third and fourth, should I trim these big lower branches or let it ride? There are no blooms on them and they're enormous.

Fifth, this cucumber was all quiet and shy and then took off like a bottle rocket. I trussed her up best I could because sweat was pouring into my eyes. Any advice?

Restaking tomatoes

I am using grow bags. Also the soil where I live is sandy. I have already tried to see how stakes do when hammered into said sandy soil, and they're just as lose in the bags. Any advice? Should I cage them instead?

EDIT: The less expensive a solution, the better. Unfortunately, I am like most of us in that I live that paycheck to paycheck life.

How should I split these up so they don't die?

Picked these up from the garden center and they obviously need help, but they probably also need splitting up. I want to give them the best shot instead of being willy-nilly about it. Any advice before I get started tomorrow?

For the past year or so, I've usually started the day with natural PB on a slice of DKB. This is primarily so I can take my meds as I'm not usually hungry for the first two hours after waking up. But I got meds to take so it's eat or get the shakes.

Yeah, yeah, I know. Most important meal of the day . . .

Anyway, I've noticed the past few weeks (I've been on Urso about six) that when I get hungry, I go from "hmm, I could eat," to HAWNGRY!!! in record time.

Of course, I'm also perimenopausal, so it could be hormones running amok.

Gah!!

I've posted here before but just to recap.

49, F. Okay, so a few months ago I was diagnosed with Primary Biliary Cholangitis. Currently taking Urso and Vitamin E to maintain. But I have noticed over the past few months that my eyes are becoming very sensitive to light, heat. Eyelashes sticking together frequently, like there's not enough moisture to lubricate. Eye aches not coinciding with sinus or head pressure as it does sometimes. I spent 30 minutes checking on my veg garden yesterday and my eyes ached the rest of the day. Sinuses were normal-ish. I actually spent a good part of the evening in my chair with my eyes closed.

Also, I am a mouth breather at night and have been all my life. I was born with a craniofacial disorder and I'm guessing that stuff in the ear nose and throat area doesn't line up right and when I lay down it's just easier. But I didn't get cavities despite that until I was about 46 years old. Seriously, I lived all that time no cavities and then finally boom. I have noticed mouth feeling a little drier than normal over the past few years. There's also been an uptick in joint paint. Hands, knees, feet, yeah.

Plus I have read in several places that some patients with PBC also have another autoimmune condition. So I am just wondering what the symptoms are for some of you, if you have Sjogren's and esp if you also have PBC. Trying to get a referral to a rheumatologist right now.

TIA!

  1. one lavender in a pot but seems to be growing lopsided. With a pretty lil flower to boot! Is it trying to get some sun? It was in a row between two grow bag rows. I've moved it since the pic was taken.

  2. one lavender by itself, all neat and tidy

  3. two or three in a box planter that seem a little unhappy. Should they be alone in their own pots? I get that. My solitude is for everyone's safety.

These gardening subreddits have been so helpful. Thanks in advance!!

They're currently in trays in a window. Growth is uneven but I have a few that look like this. I apologize for the photo quality. If better photos are needed to offer advice, please let me know.
