Hot outlets
We bought a portable ac unit for our living room. We had it running on high for 2-3 hours. In the same room, I had a baby monitor plugged in and charging in a different outlet. I went to go unplug it, and it was very hot to the touch as were the metal prongs. I felt the outside of the physical outlet itself, and it was quite hot and went around the room and all of the outlets, even those with nothing plugged into it were hot to the touch. Immediately, we unplugged the AC unit and everything else that was plugged into any outlets that share the same wire series. We turned off the breaker for our living room. The outlets are starting to cool down. The walls around the outlets feel cool to the touch. They have been unplugged for almost two hours now. I’m assuming this is not normal and we should call an electrician, but I also have high anxiety and don’t want to gaslight myself into thinking it’s fine when it may not be. The breaker never went off on its own.
