I hate this romance trope(Nisekoi/Kaguya-sama/Ichigo 100%/Blue Box/others

The trope where 1/2 of the main couple leaves or opens the possibility of leaving the country and their significant other for an apprenticeship/Job/college after HS graduation.

“Hey I know we were finally going to go steady, but I got a job/apprenticeship/college offer from a place on the other side of side of the planet, and I’m taking them up on their offer, so we probably won’t see each other for a few years. Bye.”

Thankfully it was averted in Blue Box.

And yes, I know these things can and do happen IRL. I wouldn’t mind it if it weren’t so…common?

What happened to WSJ’s Harem manga Zeitgeist?

I was binging Hima-ten cause harem manga is a guilty pleasure of mine. In a sea of Shonen junk food, it’s the most junk food-ish of them all. It’s usually trashy and mid but to me, it’s always fun.

But then I realized something. Remember how huge To-Love Ru and Nisekoi were? People are still to this day disappointed about who the MC got with at the end of Nisekoi.

Well since then, none of WSJ’s harem series have caught fire nearly as much. Bokuben and Yunna were forgotten almost right after they ended. Hima-ten I don’t ever see anyone talk about. Hell, it’s about to hit chapter 100 and I just checked and there’s no news on an anime adaptation.

I’m just curious as to why that is.
