issue with coordinate systems — please help!

i’m currently experiencing an issue where the map i’m working in is in a given coordinate system, as are all of the shapefiles i’m using, but the layers of my base map aren’t (and refuse to be projected into the target coordinate system), so the shapefiles aren’t showing up where they should be.

i think the “project” data management tool could help, but my professor wants us to use “define projection” instead, so if anyone has any tips for how i might make this work, it would be immensely appreciated!

introducing male cats?

my cat is an almost three-year-old male, and he’s the only cat i’ve ever owned. i’ve had him since he was 11 or 12 weeks old, and when i adopted him, he had already been fixed.

i know for a fact he had multiple female littermates, but i don’t know if he had any brothers. he’s also lived with three different female cats since i’ve had him, and was still quite tolerant of (& even occasionally affectionate with) the one he clearly liked the least. he seems to love the company of female cats that are older than him, and is equally friendly towards humans of all gender presentations and identities.

my future roommate mentioned a desire to potentially adopt a cat, and because he’s seemingly never coexisted with a male cat, i’m wondering if there’s any cause for concern about the sex of any cats that may enter our home. if fixed males are known to have difficulties living together, is there any way i might be able to test my cat’s tendency towards those issues before introducing another animal to the household?

thank you so much for any insight!
