Comparison between Martin D21 and OM-28V
Cool comparison between “relatively” comparable guitars with the big difference being body size/shape

Picked this up since I only had dreads! Loving it so far
This is my best shot at the full song for everyone to enjoy and cry while playing like I have. Enjoy
This is an early review, I’ve only gotten them today and have about 2 hours of playtime on them so far. This is my second set of them so far. Initial impressions, for a 13 gauge string, they feel/play much more similar to 12s as far as hand feel goes. I’m not sure the black magic that causes this as the tension is technically higher than the PB equivalents, but they play very softly. As far as tone goes, on a rosewood dread, I really really enjoy them. They cut some of the jangly highs and really give a very woody punch in the mids which is great for lead. They can cut some of the boominess and jangle you get on a rosewood dread. I had tried them before on my D18 and I wasn’t a fan, I feel as though mahogany guitars don’t need more high end cut from them and more mids pushed. As a habitual XS/PB string user, I think the Tony Rice signatures have made a strong case to be my primary strings (at least on my rosewood dread). For $8 shipped, I think they are worth a try if you are at all interested in a more vintage/dry and woody tone.
Bridge is bottomed out, by measurements it seems like it’s within spec but somehow feels tougher to play than my previous Mando, I am using the same strings as on my previous Mando.
Built by Darrel Carender out of Pawnee Oklahoma. Very excited as my first real non beginner mandolin
Back in the bowed string instrument family after last playing when I was like 13. Have played a lot of mandolin since then and figured I’d pick up a new violin, incredibly sloppy but I’m happy to be able to make a sound at all lol
Great way to increase your speed and accuracy with your right hand!
After some communal discussion and landed final tab, I posted a video for a tutorial, woke up with Billy himself liking it, so I think we may have nailed it!
Been playing guitar for a little over a year and a half, just started mandolin about 2 months ago! Just dipping my toe in the world of fiddle tunes, they do a great job at making you feel like a complete beginner again
I’ve had a couple people reach out to me asking how to get started in the world of cross picking! Though I am no expert and have barely dipped my toes in the world, this song was an exercise that got me used to the style! The string skips and rhythm from a Travis Picked song is something that translates really well over to cross picking!
I have cross referenced the song and the community a bunch, here is the updated and mostly correct tab for the new Billy song, including banjo and Mandolin tabs that should be playable if difficult. Happy playing!
Took a crack at tabbing out the intro from the new Billy song, sharing with the community to give people a starting place :)
It’s not perfect, but just trying to catch the riff by ear is a tough one
