Technology in education

Hey Naperville parents and teachers. Are we concerned at all about the amount of technology used in classrooms from an early age?

Gen Z may be the first generation in a while that annoyed lower than preceding generations on several cognitive tests and developmental milestones, and it largely correlates to the introduction of tech into classrooms.

I know correlation doesn't equal causation, but I find it interesting that the silicon valley execs send their kids to tech free schools, while milking school districts across the country for millions.

Just wondering what other parents and teachers thoughts on this issue are

Confession Time: Your Worst Takes

So I wonder if anyone wants to admit to any takes they had this season that turned out to be horribly wrong?

Mine: in January I was convinced that Bournemouth would be in the relegation fight, and have a good chance of finishing in that 18th spot.

I want to give a shout out to the Parks Department for setting up this league, and highly recommend this to any parents who want to keep their rec team together - maybe get some additional coaching, but do not want to pay the exorbitant club and travel fees with huge single sport commitments needed.

We've been in the league for about 4 season now and won a couple, drew once or twice a season but mostly lose (about 5/8 games). And the mostly lose is a good thing (sort of). It means our kids are playing against pretty high quality opponents, and getting the kind of competitiveness that is good for them.

The best is to see how our kids are growing and getting better between the first and last week of the season. The fact that we can get twice a week practice in, instead of the once with the park district league is also a huge bonus.

Some of the teams also have quite a few club players so you are playing against kids that sometimes train year round. It's a great competitive league and the kids enjoy it

There is also a pretty long waiting list for individuals who want to sign on to a team. So if anyone is looking to start a team from scratch, you can easily build one.

A lot of people complain about the cost of soccer and travel teams (before you even get to traveling and tournament costs, and then have to stay at certain hotels so clubs can get kickbacks): the Naperville Premier League is an answer to that.
