Learned Android (Kotlin, Compose) + Spring Boot backend, now scared AI is making it pointless

Spent months learning Android dev and Spring Boot backend. Now I can build a fully working app. Just started my third year and I'm looking for internships in Android dev, but with all the AI-replacing-devs talk, I keep wondering if I picked the wrong path.

Anyone who's been through a hype cycle before ? does this feeling fade once you're actually working? And for those hiring or interning right now — is this fear even matching reality on the ground?

KMP vs Flutter in 2026 — Genuine career dilemma for an Android dev. Need advice from people actually using KMP in production.

Background:

\- Solid with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose

\- Basic knowledge of Java and XML

\- Want to move into cross-platform mobile development

Why I'm considering KMP:

Logically, KMP makes sense for me. I already know Kotlin, and Compose Multiplatform uses the same Compose syntax I've been writing for Android. The learning curve looks much smaller compared to picking up Dart for Flutter from scratch.

I've also read that KMP adoption is growing fast globally (7% → 18% in just one year per JetBrains' own survey), and companies like Netflix, Cash App, and McDonald's are running it in production.

Why I'm hesitating:

The Indian job market tells a different story. Flutter still dominates job boards here. KMP-specific roles are rare, and most seem to come from product-based companies or foreign clients — not the mass hiring that IT service companies do.

What I actually want to know:

  1. For someone with my background (Kotlin + Compose), does KMP make more sense than Flutter?

  2. Is the 20–30% salary premium for KMP skills real in India or just on paper?

  3. Are product-based companies genuinely the right target for KMP roles?

  4. What does the day-to-day of a KMP developer actually look like?

Looking for honest, experience-based answers — not marketing speak. If you've shipped a KMP app in production, especially in India, your perspective would mean a lot.

Thanks 🙏

Best YouTube channel to learn Spring Boot with Kotlin? Should I learn Spring Boot 4 as a fresher?

Hi everyone,

I have learned Kotlin and Jetpack Compose for Android development, and now I'm thinking about learning backend development using Kotlin.

I'm planning to learn Spring Boot and would appreciate recommendations for the best YouTube channels, courses, or free resources that teach Spring Boot with Kotlin from beginner to advanced level.

I also have a few questions:

Should I start directly with Spring Boot 4, or learn Spring Boot 3 first?

Is Spring Boot with Kotlin a good choice for getting a fresher/junior developer job?

What other skills should I learn alongside Spring Boot to improve my chances of getting hired? (Databases, Docker, AWS, etc.)

My goal is to become a full-stack developer with Kotlin, using Jetpack Compose for Android and Spring Boot for the backend, and eventually land a fresher job in the industry.

I'd love to hear advice from developers who are using Kotlin and Spring Boot professionally.

Looking for Unique Kotlin Android Project Ideas for 3rd Year Final Year Project

I'm a 3rd year Computer Science student and need to build a Kotlin-based Android app for my major project. I want something unique, impressive, and not the usual Todo list / Notes / E-commerce app that everyone does.

How can I get kitsune fruit?

I tried to find Kitsune Island, thinking it wouldn't be that hard — but I couldn't find a single one.
