Union for Functional Skills tutor: question
I've recently moved from working as an LSA in a specialist primary school to being a Functional Skills tutor (English and Maths, Entry 3–L2) at an independent post-16 training provider.
I've always been with the NEU, but I'm wondering whether UCU would now be a better fit. UCU have confirmed I'm eligible to join, although as far as I can tell there isn't much union presence at my workplace.
Anyone working in Functional Skills, FE, apprenticeships, or an independent training provider – are you unionised, and if so, which union? Would you stick with NEU, switch to UCU, or consider something else? I'm also curious whether people think membership is still worthwhile when there isn't a recognised/active union presence in your workplace?

Nice pileus cloud appearance
They're short-lived lenticular-style caps that form over rapidly rising cumulonimbus, which force moist air upward, cooling it adiabatically (through expansion) to its dew point. Not as striking as some posts here, but still an eye-catching example. It only lasted for about 2 minutes.
