I got a kayak recently and shortly after got a herniated disc and have been out of commission for about a month. I can't wait to get healed up and get back out onto the water but I'm nervous about hoisting my kayak up onto and off of my car, as well as carrying it to the water until I'm on soft ground where I can just drag it.
any recommendations for this? devices you use for transport (to the water) or even exercises that I should maybe do while working out to make sure I can lift it safely?
During the winter of 2022 I started experiencing really intense pain all over but especially in my joints. I went to my doctor (pcp) and after a few appointments, I was diagnosed with fibro and prescribed gabapentin. At the time I was in an extremely stressful situation. I have since improved my situation greatly and I am no longer underas much stress as I was before. I got off gabapentin about 6 months ago and I have not experienced any pain from what I thought was fibro in at least a year.
I have noticed recently that while I haven't had any fibro symptoms, when I get a cold, I end up getting REALLY sick, and I'm knocked out for a few days usually. I also have chronic back pain and that has been acting up recently pretty badly and I'm wondering if that pain or those cold symptoms could be getting increased by fibro?
Is it possible for the majority of the condition to disappear or go into remission but still have flare ups?
I'm starting to question if I even have/had fibro. But if I didn't, what else could it have been?
it was very windy and the waters were so choppy but I had SO MUCH FUN!! saw the sunrise and made a pretty big loop on the lake near my house! learned quite a bit tbh. my dog seemed to enjoy herself except for after a big wave got us, the (angry) results of which you can see in pic 3 lol.
I've named my yak Clementine. can't wait for so many more adventures ✨
After renting one twice with my dog and really really enjoying it, I decided my money would be better spent just buying one. I found a Lifetime Lancer 100 Sit-In Kayak for a pretty good deal. I installed crossbars on my car roof and got padding and straps and I've read up on how to secure it. I've ordered a knife with seatbelt cutter for emergencies along with a PFD and my dog already has one.
