Question on Robert Crown Center area

Curious if anyone is aware of any security/safety issues around the Robert Crown Center area lately? Over the summer I've noticed a private security company taking laps around the perimeter of the turf fields in a golf cart later at night after 10pm or so, looks like they are patrolling the area. I walk this area frequently at night with my dog and didn't notice the security firm prior to the summer. Was wondering if there was an uptick in crime in that area or maybe a specific event that called for extra surveillance?

Radio Margaritaville Question - limited song versions?

I finally gave in and renewed my Sirius XM subscription today.

One thing that bothers me is that Jimmy Buffet's career was over four decades long but they only play two versions of the live Boat Drinks on Radio Margaritaville.

I feel like the content managers of that station are extremely lazy. Do people agree with this?

They play a live version from Atlanta where at the end Jimmy sings "Do you feel that ice melting under your feet", and they play a live version from Palm Beach where Jimmy at the end Jimmy sings "I gotta go where it's warm...Palm Beach looks pretty good to me tonight". It's almost comical that these are the only 2 versions that get air time.

There are many other examples too...I'm so sick of hearing Mexico live at Bridgeview Chicago show and I was actually at that show. Etc. Same live Lage Nom Ai Nom Ai. You get my point.

Update on rate increase negotiation

Posting this and hoping that it helps others in negotiation. 2 weeks ago I cancelled my subscription because it was increasing from $3.98 per month to $25.99 per month. I threatened to cancel and Sirius offered me $5.99 per month for a year. I declined and they cancelled my service. Today, I received an offer of $4.99 per month for a year. That's probably $6 with taxes and is a 25% increase from what I was paying. I doubt they have made 25% in service upgrades since last year and doubt the product is 25% better, but oh well, we will play this dumb game again in 12 months.

Why does it always smell like garbage by the Presidential Towers downtown?

Every time I leave Ogilvie and walk past the towers to my office, it smells like a garbage/poop mix. It's disgusting and I'm sure others have noticed this. But why is it so bad in that area? Anyone know?

Rate Increases - why do we have to play this dumb game every year

Excited to find this SiriusXm subreddit.

Today is the day that happens each year where Sirius and I begin the ridiculous dance of me cancelling my account because my promotional rate is up and then likely they will call me back next week with a better offer and I will sign another 12 month agreement.

I currently just came to the end of a $3.98 monthly rate. It was going to increase to a regular price of $25.99 per month, but when I threatened to cancel, and all of a sudden they reduced it to $5.99 per month.

That's still too much. a 50% increase for what? I asked the customer service rep if they could justify the 50% price increase and just got the script "so that we can continue to provide you with the best service possible".

I'm actually surprised that Sirius feels like they have this much leverage with customers when there are so many competitors out there like Spotify.

Also, I'm sure I'm not the first person to bring up this issue on this forum.

Junk Removal Company?

I'm getting rid of two couches and two other large pieces of furniture that are in pretty bad shape that I'm fairly sure nobody else would want. Does anybody have experience with a good junk removal company? The volume that I have exceeds the City of Evanston's 311 special pickup limit.

Tried U Taco in the Sam's Club strip mall on Main

tried an assortment of their tacos, pastor, chicken, steak...delicious. Can't wait to go back and try some other menu items. Friendly staff as well. RIP Da Jerk Pit, but I think we've got a keeper in this location now. Check it out.

At about 2:20pm on Ridge and Lee, two adults chasing a child

Saw two adults chasing a young black female (maybe 12-15 year old range) who was running north on the west side sidewalk of Ridge. There was also a car following northbound on Ridge that then did a u turn in the middle of Ridge at Lee and almost caused an accident. A third adult involved in the chase on foot had a walkie talkie and was well behind the main chase and this person initially turned west on Greenleaf. This third adult was communicating with others on a walkie talkie. It appeared to me that the two adults leading the chase towards the girl who was running away north on Ridge caught up to her before they reached the Greenleaf and Ridge stoplight. What is an adult passerby in that situation supposed to do?
