Hanako redesign and rewrite!
I made her more playful and indolent with a slight manipulative streak,, she can deliberately make use of her troublemaker tendencies to get the LI to stay but isn't an inherently bad person, albeit reckless and unpredictable. Has unstable attachment issues due to them being orphaned as children and her brother moving on in life without her. Nanase, as a child, would be overly reliant on her brother, sometimes out of genuine emotional necessity and other times out of selfishness, to the point where it'd overwhelm her brother and blur the line between her emotional perspectives. Though he can cope okay, this results in Nanase's brother being relatively emotionally distant or wary of others so as to conserve his energy. (At the same time kind of repressing himself for the sake of his sister, making him more introverted)
Nanase has a pretty strained relationship with her brother despite his own sense of responsibility and genuine care. Though, it can be hard for him to gauge whether she's bluffing most of the time for attention so he can be provoked to say more insensitive things out of exasperation (Though he will not mean most of what he says, Nanase often retorts back and there'll be ice till it tides over) .
Nanase does harbour some guilt as a result of this, and feels deeply ashamed of being codependent but keeps it from her brother, creating a growing drift as she becomes more antagonistic, assuming that he'll never properly like her as a person despite being obligated to care for her. She will though, have certain bursts of irrepressible guilt for her brother and do chores / earn her own allowance / other stuff without being told. These periods are usually civil and help affirm to Nanase that she doesn't have to be a burden of her own making. Sometimes, though, she can over-do it: Skipping meals, going without transport fees, falling sick without telling him, all the while being incredibly stubborn and masking with her usual shenanigans.
Her brother silently appreciates these small gestures but doesn't emotionally react much as he is conflicted on his opinion of her. They visit the family graves Biennially without fail and vow never to fight on that day every year.
Throughout the week, you could provoke him enough / (Frame Nanase for committing something uncharacteristically diabolical) to say something genuinely hurtful to Nanase. This will end in her deciding to eventually run away out of spite and grief (Eliminated). This is not the first time she has done this, but you know she won't be back. (You can either choose to let her go missing or finish the job yourself, her brother will be devastated either way and blame himself heavily)
I intended for Nanase to be a character constantly moving from school to school due to her apathy or lack of academic motivation, hence her lack of regard for uniforms / dress codes / seeing as she has so many of them anyway. She gets along with any classmates alright, being somewhat withdrawn or acquaintances at most. Nanase doesn't make it a point to start fights but isn't very well-liked because of how unnerving she unwittingly comes across as when she's smiling or trying to joke. (She looks very devious :( )
She doesn't have much of an aspiration (Which could be an elimination method, occupying her with something or developing her independence) and is pretty flagrantly defiant in school (Ditching, littering, dress code, outbursts in front of faculty etc.) , being able to switch facades at will. She absolutely despises people who frame her as a troubled or "problem child", believing that most people see her as someone to be fixed or corrected. (When Nanase actually is pretty street-smart and pragmatic. Even when she threatens to leave home or endanger herself, she has pretty good survival instincts and is able to see when situations are just unfeasible.)
The only few interests she has outside of regular stuff are decora fashion, accessorizing her bags / school materials and axe-throwing. She likes anything sweet (but is picky about the specific flavours) and likes patchwork and crafts, but can never see herself actually doing that stuff long-term. She is partial to the jirai community but dislikes the garish under-eye makeup. (I like Jirai :( )
Perhaps throughout her week she could escalate her bids for attention, cry on command, engage in shenanigans, ultimately resulting in her deliberate expulsion. Nanase intends to flunk on purpose so her brother can finally homeschool her, she sees herself better-off just idling about as they live within their means anyway. (Failed elimination // Game-over event) As a result, Nanase's brother will have to take some time off of school, even transferring to a nearby school in their neighbourhood. (They live far away in a remote area from the current academy, him initially choosing it for its prestige.) His commitment to both his sister and in remaining academically consistent or stable at least informs this decision since it saves him much more time commute-wise.
