My child is currently using my ex-partner’s last name. When I gave birth, we were still okay, so we decided to use his last name when we registered the birth certificate.

But things changed very quickly after that, and we eventually lost communication. I’ve been raising my son alone since he was just one month old. I even changed my contact number and social media accounts, the ex never made any effort to reach out or support our child financially.

Because of this, I wanted to ask if it’s possible to change my child’s last name to mine instead.

I’d also like to know what the requirements are, how the process works, and how much it would usually cost.
