I have nothing against people who ship them (seriously or jokingly lol), but I truly saw them as great brothers. It’s not often you see siblings share the protagonist role in RPGs, let alone adopted siblings. I was always endeared by Lasswell really caring about Rain to the point you can feel he has spoiled him. Other characters like Charlotte, Lid, and Nichol pointing it out was always endearing for me. >!That familial love really shows itself in greatly enhancing the tragedy of Paladia!< in s2.>! We go from S1 Lasswell relenting to Rain’s playful whims, to saying he would wear his ulcers with pride if it meant protecting the troublemaker, to “Rain would never, not my Rain” when Rain was on ptsd overdrive. It was a huge roller coaster I hunger to see in hd-2d should the re-imagining get us to Paladia down the road!<.
>!I find it sad the narration stopped focusing on them as a duo, outright splitting them up(and neglecting Lasswell as a character), but I also accept it because Rain’s actions & the fate of Paladia kinda demanded they come apart, sad as it was.!< I look forward to seeing these goobers fully voice acted with plenty of new sprites! It’ll be nice to relive their more innocent adventures.
Raegen: “YOU CALLED MY SON LASSWORM??”
I think its interesting he is closer to Lasswell than he is to his biological son Rain, especially in the later seasons! To me this is rare in fiction and what really makes me appreciate them. Whenever he called Lasswell son, it sparked joy and their duo sprites sparked more joy. Raegen was so committed to being a grizzly dad and Lasswell was more welcoming to it than Rain was(not blaming Rain at all for the boundaries he set). It’s great that an adopted character has such a bond with their family; it’s something I always praised ffbe for (ignoring Folka and the 4koma manga at least).

I actually found the idea of Rain x Lid fun at first. It was very early in and the 4 koma made them funnier, but it sadly fell off fast. However, I still really love to think of them as hot-headed friends.
I wish I could say a lot about these two, and although I cannot, I still treasure them and the calm vibes it gives. If I remember right and it isn’t head canon: didn’t she write his name in the interior of her shield??? Either way, I’m not a fan of unresolved triangles…still cool she and Physalis became friends in spite of it.
Lasswell (really) does well with sunshine-y chaotic puppies as we see with s1 Rain. Sometimes simplicity is best tbh.
Nichol: If the choice is to save one person or one hundred people; I'll find a way to save both.
Rain: ...You still remember that?
Nichol: Of course. Meeting you is the reason I stand here right now.
Rain: Heh. Feels like I should apologize for bringing you into this mess...
Imagine how I felt when I saw Rain's famous line again in a screen shot for Resonance! I was immediately taken back to this moment in s2!
Nichol x Rain is still my favorite. Back in the day I had made a small discord server for it that is sadly no more,>! but when Nichol left to become a star of The Orders we were cheering like winning a sporting event. I always had an inkling that Nichol could not leave Rain to suffer alone, and it was so nice(and horrific) to see him follow through on it.!< Things that always really stood out for me was how he always remembered the things Rain said to the point he began to parrot them not only in action, but in his core belief.
It is with that inspiration that he really knows who Rain is, how he ticks and what will help him. It gave to moments like letting Rain sprint off into the sylph cave because he believes in Rain so much that even if he failed at something, Nichol is prepared and happy to be his fail safe/safety net.
In my interpretation, he always made Rain feel like he could do it, whatever that "it" was. If Rain didn't think he could, Nichol had advice to give or ways to make it possible; be it words, a magical buff, or >!joining an evil military!<.
Nichol went from a clammed up hard ass to a deeply kind (but still kinda morbid) person, and had the honesty to tell Rain at his lowest (>!before Rain harmed and left Lasswell!<) that he inspires people so much, he changes them, so much as referring to himself specifically in evidenced example. I think Rain really needed it at that moment >!as Vagrant Knight Rain!<.
Then your usual fun surface level stuff: fire/water, red/blue, healer/tank(Yeah Rain is also a dps, but I always was endeared by him being a defender to start). S1 was enough for me, but s2 was where it really got gassed up on turbo so I still think it'll be rarepair in Resonance. Fingers crossed I could do another discord for it.
Although I feel like the two's bond understandably eroded, especially with Nichol becoming prickly about(and towards) Lasswell's sensitivity & sweet heart in s2, I always imagined they empathized about being older brothers and the weight it brought, but despite that weight, it was something they gladly shouldered. I also like how for awhile they were narrative contrasts in how they operated and how they both >!lost their brother (one sooner than the other). Nichol had a vengeful streak to Lasswell's more patient approach that continued to bear the gravity of grief!<. It's a long shot, but it'd be cool if resonance expanded upon this with them having more conversations lost in time to the farplane events.
I have honorable mentions for Nichol & Sakura but I don't want this post to be incredibly long.

Im wondering if my spigen screen protector is making it that my s pen cant register in this spot of my screen? Which is also bummer because I wanted to draw with it. I swiped across the screen to give an idea where the pen is not reading.
Didn't see any calibration settings either. My first ever Ultra. Not the end of the world if I cant scribble with it.
