Rodents chewing car wires — how do you prevent it in Big Bear?
Hey locals — what do you do to prevent rodents from getting into your engine bay and damaging your car?
My girlfriend and I moved to Big Bear in early June, and so far we’ve loved it up here, even with the occasional power outages.
Unfortunately, we just had a pretty major issue. Our place doesn’t have a garage or covered parking, and my girlfriend’s brand-new 4Runner suddenly stopped working. We had to get it towed all the way down to the dealership in San Bernardino, where they found that some of the wiring had been chewed through by a rodent.
For those of you who park outside, is there anything that actually works to prevent this? Peppermint spray, lights, electronic deterrents, opening the hood, traps around the parking area, or anything else?
Has anyone else dealt with this regularly up here? I see plenty of cars parked outdoors without garages, so I’m wondering what the locals do.
