2 month progress: my goal is to drop from 34% body fat to 20% by the time I get married. I'm halfway there.

37M here. 2-3 months ago I got sick of my situation and decided I'm going to get into the best shape of my life. I want to be healthy, live long, and be shredded. I set my wedding as the deadline.

Before (2 months ago)
- Weight: 88kg/194lb
- Body fat: 34% (DEXA)
- HbA1C: 5.7% (pre-diabetic)
- LDL: 138
- Sleeping 5 hours a day

Now (today)
- Weight: 82kg/180lb
- Body fat: 27%
- HbA1C: 5.4%
- Sleeping 7.1 hours a day

What I changed?

- Nutrition: 1500 calories a day / 700 deficit with 110 grams protein. Non-strict keto.
- Sleep: target of 8 hours in bed, to ideally reach 7.5 hours net sleep
- Strength training: 2 times a week
- Cardio/HIIT: 1 time a week
- Sleep routine: no screens 1 hour before, red-light glasses, Magnesium 400mg

Tracking all metrics religiously (view live metrics). Will do another progress report in 3 months when I get married!

Should I take 2 months and become a ski bum at 37?

This is a lifelong dream of mine. Probably should’ve done it in my 20’s but now can also work. Engaged and planning on having kids in the next 2 years so this is probably the last good time before then. I work in tech and can work remote so money wise is easier for me. Calling it “digital skimad” is probably more accurate than skibum. Worried about loneliness, social aspects and injury? Budgeting $15k for this in Europe, probably Austria. Looking for advice from those who have done this.

Looking to build a PDF legal document summarizer tool

I'm planning on building a one-page tool that allows me to upload a legal contract (i.e. 70 page lease agreement) and I want the AI to summarize it all into a one-pager. I know traditional LLMs tend to mess up large documents (hallucinate details, summarize just the first pages and skip content...etc), so I want to do this with highest level of accuracy I can. Price is secondary. Any suggestions on the tech stack to use to get best results?

Context: I posted the LiveSunset project a few days ago. Since then I'm here everyday searching for similar stuff others are building for inspiration. But it's so apparent to me that similar projects are quite rare. Even in the age of AI where it's getting much easier to build, where are all the cool stuff? 99% of projects are business apps. Hoping capitalism didn't completely kill humanities creative drive :/ Where should I be searching?

EDIT: I just remembered r/InternetIsBeautiful which is half way there. I miss the old Digg/Old Reddit/Cool Stuff of the Day

TLDR: website that shows you live sunsets 24/7 from a variety of cameras around the world. All live. No looping or recordings.

Edit: holy crap never thought this would blow up. the website usually gets 30 visits a day. it's already at 2,000 visits / 20k sunsets watched, thank you!

https://www.livesunset.io/

Backstory: originally built the first alpha version during COVID when in lockdown. I was pissed that I couldn't leave the house to go see the sunset, so I built an app that shows sunsets from live cameras around the world. No real use case. Recently added AI to rank the sunsets, so now it's much better. Good enough to share here.

If any geeks are curious on how it works:

  1. Finds where the sun is currrently setting around the world
  2. Surfaces a live camera facing west from that location
  3. Pulls a screenshot and uses AI to rank sunsets (score from 1-5)
  4. As soon as the sunset ends or gets ugly, it will switch to a nicer one
  5. That's all it does really.

FYI - this is a 100% passion project. Not a business. So be kind.

Did I waste 100 hours building this?
