Hurt my thumb skiing last month and it's still not right, anyone use a thumb brace that actually works?

Fell on my outstretched hand at Breckenridge in February and got a pretty bad sprain at the base of my thumb. Doctor said it's skier's thumb and told me to brace it, but everything I've tried from the pharmacy feels huge and bulky.I coach youth hockey so I need something I can actually move in and still use my hand. Has anyone found a thumb brace that gives real support without making your whole hand useless?

SGN ski review/freeride recomandation

I’m looking to buy new pair of skis and I come across Norwegian brand SGN, I’m looking especially in Rakkar and Tunnelvision. I want to my new skis to be good performing in powder, agile in forest but also I can survive going with them on pista, holding on ice patches. My style is a bit aggressive but I also enjoy just cruising in powder. Also I’m looking for skis that are 170-175 long with 100-110 waist.

Mixing Seasoned + New Skiiers

Hello! My family is a mix of seasoned skiiers (husband + teenager) and total newbies (me + 5 y/o) looking for a mid-January ski spot that balances long runs with good ski schools.

I like ease, low crowds, and beauty.

I am thinking Mount Tremblant (am mostly charmed by the smallness of the village + its Euro flair), but would love advice!

What to do?

Kids have outgrown their toddler and smaller sized boots. They’ve been worn well and trying to figure out how to clear out the old gear. Older ski boots- what do you do with them? Landfill, planters …

Thoughts on this sign?

Posted by Donner Ski Ranch (CA) on Facebook recently. The general consensus there is wtf but curious what Reddit thinks. They also doubled down and made a 2nd post offering free tickets to anyone who got a photo of the lifties on phones for the upcoming season.

I’m a lifty sup so personally it’s gross af!!

Edit to share my own opinion because I’m not gonna reply to any more comments: I don’t think that any lift op should be on their phone when there’s guests on line that they need to watch. Period end of story. Anyone who is sucks and deserves to be reprimanded. Our job is easy 90% of the time and there’s 10% when you need to pay attention needs to be taken seriously. But this kinda sign that encourages customers to RAT on workers is weird and gross. It creates an uncomfortable mistrustful relationship between customers and ops when in reality there should only be stoke between those 2 entities. Everyone calling me a crap sup for saying that I don’t like it needs to chill out. My resort would never put this kind of sign up because a) we deal with issues like this internally and b) because we have faith in our operators to do a good job and our customers to report issues without this kinda weird toned incentive. Not exactly mellow of you all to be hating on each other either but hey what did I expect it’s Reddit :P

Tom Gellie: "why pay $250+ for a custom orthotic if a minimal flat insole does the same job — or a better one"

From this youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TlgezJntQc

I've been posting in this sub over the last few years about my personal anecdotes using both custom orthotics and minimal footbeds. I was prompted to experiment both by Walker at Harb Ski Systems and Tom Gellie. This sub generally responds extremely negatively to the sentiment that minimal footbeds may be better. The online ski community seems to take the need for custom orthotics as dogma, and I think many skiers would benefit by questioning that dogma.

Just posting to start a discussion. Has anyone experimented both ways? If so what did you find?

Thoughts about the black crows Dorsa 22 ?

I am looking at a bag that will follow me all around (skiing, going at school, hiking... you see). I saw it discounted at 109.99€ on glisshop. Does anyone have it or could tell me if it is good ? I also do like the brand itself as I have 2 pairs of skis from them.
22 liters is kinda what i search for

Broken Shift?

Can I still ski these? The plastic piece on the left binding popped off. It’s plastic so how necessary/structurally important is it for the descents?

Heated socks: how do you keep them smell free

For those who own heated socks, how do you keep them smell free? Do you rotate between pairs? Or do you brew some fine wine down there in your boots with them?

Are heated vests for skiing actually useful or just expensive batteries strapped to you?

Mid-season here in Argentina — been at Bariloche for a week and the lifts have been brutal on cold days. I run cold anyway, and layering only gets me so far when you're sitting still on a slow chair for fifteen minutes in wind.

Someone in the lift line mentioned heated vests and I didn't take it seriously at the time. Now I'm thinking about it. Prices are all over the place, battery life claims seem optimistic, and I can't find many people who've actually used one for a full day on the mountain.

Is this category worth looking at, or is it still mostly overpriced novelty?

Lodging in Breckenridge

Hello, last year a group of us (6) went to Keystone and stayed at an Airbnb that was a 5 minute walk from the base. Next year we would like to go to Breckenridge around February. The general idea would be arrive Wednesday, ski Thursday, take a rest day and explore the town Friday, ski Saturday, and leave Sunday.

The only thing we really want in out of lodging is a walkable distance to the base. Any recommendations or hidden gems would be greatly appreciated.

I edited a film about skiing the Comstock

This descent had been a dream for a while, and I never really thought I would get the opportunity to ski it. Even while we were camped back there it seemed like it might not happen!

I stepped into some new terrain on this project, both in the Dawsons and in animation, sound design, blender, QGIS etc but I think it came together to tell a neat story. I hope you enjoy!

Ski Resorts for this Winter - PNW vs Tahoe area vs Colorado? Bartending experiences

Currently trying to plan my upcoming winter and for the past few winters I’ve made decent money had a good work life balance in Utah but this year I’m looking to switch it up a bit and am torn between a few options and want to hear from yall about your experiences. I know how each areas skiing itself is but don’t know which area has the potential to make the most money. I’m looking at various resorts in Washington but mainly Crystal mountain, palisades in California or working at hotels/casinos in the area, or headed out to various resorts in Colorado. Any advice is awesome.

Best station to travel from Paris to get to Meribel?

Hi all,

What would be the best direct route from Paris to get to Meribel via a bus transfer? I want to go direct as we are travelling with our toddler, but no train routes are yet available for my dates, which will be 30 December 2026.

Don’t want it to be complex - direct routes would be great.

Really keen to hear some thoughts. Thanks.
