ChronoTrigger / FF3 / Secret of Mana

Recently splurged on a ChronoTrigger SNES cartridge and started playing it again. Played through the whole game on emulator about 20 years ago and adored it. Feeling the itch to play a retro RPG, but also feel like I’ve already done Chrono Trigger. Even though it was a long time ago, I still remember a lot of it. Granted I’m still just in the first chapter.

FF3. I also played on emulator around the same time and only got about three or four hours into it. Didn’t quite grab me the same as Chrono trigger back then but I know it’s highly regarded. Don’t remember too much about it except I’ve played the beginning a few times.

Secret of Mana I’ve never played, but I have it on the SNES mini and have been curious about it for some time.

Generally not a gamer these days so it takes me some time to get momentum and stick with a game. Which of these three do you think I should try and commit to first? Or which one do you think hooks you quickest?

Dog etiquette question:

Hey Neighbors! Earlier* *this year I moved into my second place in the neighborhood, and my first with any kind of front lawn. It’s a small but long strip, with about 15 feet of grass from sidewalk to some nicely maintained landscaping, collectively owned and maintained by a small multi-unit building. My unit and one neighboring unit face it. Basically feels like a front lawn to my unit.

I watch lots of dogs get walked up and down my street all day long, and some do their business at the edge of the lawn near the sidewalk — no issue there at all.

But one or two owners in particular seem to treat the whole lawn like a public park: walking their dogs on to the grass all the way up to the landscaping by the building to sniff and dig around, and occasionally letting them off-leash while they hang out and smoke with a friend, letting the dog roam and do its business wherever. Clocked this with two different dogs so far, but I suspect it’s been the same owner each time.

I get the appeal — it’s probably the only grassy area on the block big enough for that kind of hangout — but it feels like it crosses a line from normal dog-walking etiquette into something more invasive. I haven’t said anything to anyone yet, just curious what the dog-owner community considers normal here before deciding if it’s worth raising.

'Vehicle Off' button suddenly appearing in place of my Gate Opening button when I come to a stop is dumb.

We all experience this? Pull up to the gate or garage door, go to press the pre-programmed button on the UI to open it, but because I've come to a stop the 'VEHICLE OFF' button suddenly appears just where I going to press? Bad UI design. Lets address it, Chevrolet.

Local Flute Teacher in Los Feliz?

Hi! Casual sax player here who recently picked up a flute and looking for a few basic lessons to get started. Looks like Los Feliz Music Conservatory requires travel for their instructors so seeing if there might be anyone local?
