I think I will fail my IHK exam in Baden-Württemberg. Need advice for my backup.

Hey everyone,

I just finished my 3-year Ausbildung (Fachkraft für Lebensmitteltechnik) in a meat factory. I am pretty sure I failed the final exam.

Why I’m struggling:

The Exam: The Baden-Württemberg IHK paper requires heavy writing (no multiple-choice). Even Germans struggle with it.

Language: I work in a small village and my co-workers are foreigners, so my German didn't improve enough for a written exam.

Physical Toll: The job involves lifting very heavy weights. I am completely burnt out.

I can try a second time, but I am afraid I will fail again due to the language barrier.

My Questions:

Any tips to pass these open-ended IHK written exams?

What other food industry jobs can I do without an IHK certificate?

Thank you!

Ausbildung vs. Foreign Bachelor’s Degree: Visa and career dilemma in Germany. Need advice!

Hey everyone,

I’m in a really tough spot right now and could use some advice regarding my career, Ausbildung, and visa situation in Germany.

My Background:

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology from India.

I came to Germany and have been doing a 3-year Ausbildung as a Fachkraft für Lebensmitteltechnik in a meat/meat-processing industry (Fleischindustrie) in a small village (Dorf) in Baden-Württemberg.

I just took my final exams, and to be honest, I am highly confident I didn't pass.

The Problems:

The Exam is Brutal: Unlike some other German states that use multiple-choice questions (MCQs), the IHK Baden-Württemberg exam requires heavy open-ended writing. Even my German colleagues struggle with it.

Language Barrier & Isolation: Because I work in a rural village and most of my co-workers are foreigners who don't speak high-level German, my German didn't improve as much as I hoped.

Physical Toll: The job is incredibly physically demanding (lifting heavy weights constantly), and doing this while worrying about the language and exams has left me completely burnt out.

Failed 3rd attempt of Ausbildung, but hold a recognized Indian Bachelor’s degree (Anabin H+). What are my next steps to change visas?

I am an Indian national currently living in Germany. Unfortunately, I have just failed my final retake exam for my Ausbildung, meaning my contract is officially over and I am "endgültig nicht bestanden" (definitively failed).

However, I have a major safety net: I hold a Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc) in Food Processing Technology from a recognized Indian university (Bharathiar University, which has an H+ status on Anabin).

Given the updates to the Skilled Immigration Act (Fachkräfteeinwanderungsgesetz), I know I am technically allowed to work any qualified job now. I am looking to pivot into a regular full-time position as a Maschinen- und Anlagenführer (Machine & Plant Operator), production specialist, or apply for a completely different, shorter 2-year Ausbildung.

What is the safest way to approach the Ausländerbehörde right now to bridge my visa? Should I register immediately with the Agentur für Arbeit tomorrow morning, or apply for an Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte) to secure a 12-month buffer? Any advice from someone who transitioned from a failed Ausbildung to a skilled worker visa using a foreign degree would be highly appreciated. Thank you!
