Couple Cool Wines

Étienne Calsac - Rose de Craie (Base Vintage 2024)

Delicious, very fruity. It tastes like strawberries and raspberries, but not very sweet (dosage 4g/L). I love Calsac’s wines, and this is a really beautiful expression. For $90 retail, I think this is a steal.

La Pousse d’Or - Chambolle-Musigny 2010

I had low expectations, but this was awesome. If you can find it, buy it. This still has fruit, but also cinnamon and other baking spices. Some hints of tertiary notes, just enough to be great I think. Still has a couple years of upside! I paid $110, which is a bargain. I’ve had much more expensive 2010 burgundy that was far worse.

NYC Hotel Recommendations

I’m going to NYC for one night in a couple weeks and will be primarily around Greenwich Village. I was looking at nearby hotels like the Greenwich, but the value prop feels bad considering we’ll spend most of both days out and about.

Any recommendations for quiet, luxury hotels? Or do I just need to accept that NY is NY, and $1,400 isn’t outrageous? Doesn’t have to be nearby Greenwich Village since it’s easy to get to.

London Birthday Recommendations

Hi all,

I’m looking for birthday recommendations to bring my father and two other people to. We’ve been to Core by Clare Smyth for the last two years and may want to try something new. My dad’s really into the Michelin guide so starred restaurants are strongly preferred. A great wine list is also very important! There is no price limit.

I was looking at Da Terra and Mauro Colagreco at the OWO, these both seem like strong options? Does anyone have experiences at these restaurants or others they can share?

We’re going to Trishna and KOL on other nights, if that gives any context.

Thank you!
