Do deer eat ants…?

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but I had a group of mule deer pass through my property last night (south Denver metro area) and noticed they seem to have dug up a spot where a large ant hill used to be. The coconut fiber erosion blanket is also torn.

There wasn’t any vegetation here, I did plant lots of grass seed but in this spot the ants seemed to have eaten all of the seeds and nothing grew. Nearby there are lots of visible deer tracks and other partially dug up spots where some plants were growing, but this dug up spot is much larger.

I’m a bit puzzled, why would deer dig this up? Do they ever eat ants…?

Suggestions for family-friendly resort with indoor pools that aren’t great wolf?

I’ll be visiting family that lives in the east valley in October but I’m hoping to also turn it into a bit of a vacation for us and our two kids (8 and 5) as well.

Any suggestions for somewhere to stay in the phoenix or east valley area that would be fun for kids and has a pool and slide sort of stuff? I grew up in the valley but can’t remember if October is too cold to swim outside haha, would you recommend an indoor pool that time of year?

We’ve done great wolf before and while the kids seemed to like it, we kind of detested it to be honest. Hoping to find something that’s not as packed/money-grabbing like that.

Thanks in advance!

How bad is this roof? Getting conflicting assessments

Roof is somewhere between 10-15 years old, we’ve gotten assessments anywhere between just repairing a few spots and urgently needing a full replacement. Having a hard time knowing what the truth is?

How can I learn how to maintain and care for a large property?

I recently purchased a 1.4 acre property and just walking around looking at all of the different trees and plants growing on it, I am realizing how clueless I am about how to care for and maintain a larger property. For example there are some trees with bark peeling off that I think may be sick, other trees with wire around their base I’m not sure if I should remove, some bushes with dead undergrowth that I wonder if I need to clear away, lots of patches of weeds I am not sure if I should weed wack or just leave, etc.

I believe for the trees I would need an arborist, but is there a profession (maybe a type of landscaper?) who could just come consult on the best ways to maintain all of this? Or just find a location-specific book to read about this?

I want to let it be native and relatively wild but in a way that’s manageable, doesn’t encourage pests, and is safe for my kids to play in.

Location: Colorado

I’m in a bit of a mess right now where I am trying to purchase a short sale property, and after a long 60 day closing period, we finally had all green lights and signed our closing documents on Thursday. Thursday evening though we get a call from our realtor that apparently the husband of the elderly couple that own the house refused to finish signing the closing paper work at the title company. They have since moved to a nearby city so we closed at different locations.

From what I was told there may be some dementia involved. There were some items they were going to leave behind in the garage that we signed a personal property agreement for several weeks ago that now the husband was saying he wanted some of. On Friday I said okay fine have him write a list out and he can come get them within 14 days. It was some minor items like a boat anchor and set of longhorns. We and the sellers wife all digitally signed that amendment, but he still refused to sign.

Our realtors lawyers sent a demand letter Friday requesting he sign by Monday end of day or they will initiate a lawsuit.

My main question is this: if he still doesn’t sign Monday, do we still have a chance of getting the house in a reasonable time period? Or is the legal process so long and tedious, or uncertain if we could even get the closing court ordered, that we should just forget it and move on?

Any advice or similar experiences would be appreciated!!
