The Islamic month of Muharram marks the anniversary of the tragedy of Karbala, a period of mourning for Shi'a Muslims across the globe. Every year, millions of pilgrims from across the globe come en masse to commemorate the tragedy at the shrine of the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad. Most of these pilgrims land at either Baghdad or Najaf, with the former of these two airports being larger and more capable of accommodating increased traffic during this period. I've wanted to run Ziyarah (Arabic word for this sort of pilgrimage/visitation) operations for a long time now, and I finally got to do so today on the Qatari A333!

Edit: forgot to caption the images, but if you look at the top right in image 2 you'll see a white region - this is the compound of the shrine in real life. I was lucky enough to have my descent take me over Karbala, very cool to see and recognise a landmark I've visited personally and have a connection to in the sim.

i really need more practise in this thing but i'm getting the hang of it compared to my previous flights on it

can't wait for post-exam free time so i can fly as much as i want, east africa/middle east ops are definitely calling

just need to figure out why it crashes so often when i fly in the americas, cant even push back in Toronto before my sim crashes 💔
