Home Smart App - feature requests, design, contribution?

Hi all,

I have a few things I want in the IKEA home smart apps.
Is there somewhere we can ask, or somewhere we can help?

IKEA says their Home Smart app may some day be Open Sourced. I'm a software developer, I might have a look or contribute. But sadly it's not yet open sourced, and I don't think it will anytime soon.

The things I would like are for quick access or saving space: with 10 rooms, 45 lights and some other stuff, I don't want to scroll so much.

  1. if any room has an icon, there's the icon on a "line" and the name under it. Could they be on the same "line" to waste less space?

  2. a quick dashboards with only icons and no names would be cool

  3. I have MYGGBETT, could we have an icon to see if the door is open or closed? You should be able to say "I want a shortcut" or not (I would show all of them)

  4. Same for MYGGSPRAY: is there movement or not? (I would hide all of them)

  5. Could we hide or show any measure from TIMMERFLOTTE or ALPSTUGA? I'm really mostly interested in temperature, not humidity

  6. easy exporting/importing config, or just fixing the BILRESA remotes (3 of them were marked disconnected and they actually had no problem but I had to reinstall them)

  7. when listing all products, could be search by name, room, connected status, sort by names, rooms, last install/modification date, and status

  8. when listing products or scenes for configuration, search by name, room, order by named and last modified/installed

  9. add a dashboard of all disconnected products so I can fix them fast.

Thanks to you all and if anyone can get me in touch with the actual developers at IKEA (or their managers) I would first thank them all then kindly ask for all this, donating what time and skill I could.

Cheers,

Sharing control with friends, and privacy

Hi all,
I want to share lights control with my family or even a few friends.

I have 40+ KAJPLATS lights, a DIRIGERA, and I may soon install a computer with Home Assistant.

I did pair my own phone to DIRIGERA, and Control Anywere.
I can see and do everything, I'm very happy.

I'm willling to give control to my girlfriend, she'll know whenever I'm using the bathroom or the kitchen lights at 3AM, but that's fine.
Actually I tried to setup Google Home and then she got partial control of all lights, but can't change my configuration, can't access sensors, and gets a totally different UI than IKEA's -- and actually I prefer IKEA's.

I'm willing to give temporary access to a friend if they spend a few days at home. I'm less willing to let them be admin. A prank is fine (like: changing my bathroom's lights' color during my shower), but messing (willingly or unwillingly) with my carefully crafted setup is not.

Soon, I want to add remote-controlled blinds and heating to my home. I might add it in IKEA if I can, Home Assistant if IKEA doesn't do it. Now, we're talking about someone opening my bay windows remotely, and so I don't want to give such a responsibility to anybody (like: I'm giving you my home keys). I'll get a remote inside the house so if I invite someone, they can open blinds, but no more.

How did you manage it, technically or "socially"?
I'm happy to discuss!

PS : I have a computer, I'm ready to install Home Assistant soon. I guess this will give way more flexibility and power (to the cost of the configuration being way harder, but I can do this).

Getting music in every room

Hi all,

I'd love to command a few speakers in a few rooms.
If possible, for my music to follow me in every room.

---

I have a DIRIGERA, Ikea Home Smart, I see all these sweet and cute and cheap IKEA bluetooth speakers. Could they all pair to my network and then they'd be in the app and I could stream some sound there?

Or are the bluetooth speakers not smart enough, and you'd recommend going the SONOS / SYMFONISK way?

Thanks!

---

About my music following me in the house, I can only think of smarter stuff like movement detectors everywhere, or NFC tags or whatever on family members (I mean, they'd have a key holder or something) ; or cameras for face recognition, and that's way more than I'm willing to do.

But if anyone has a super simple and smart idea, I'd love to hear it!

Thanks for anyone who can help or point to the right documentation.

Voice commands, and music everywhere

Hi all,
I just want my house to:

  1. obey some vocal commands
  2. without a cloud

How could I do that?

#1 means I need a mic on, in each room, right? I mostly always have my phone on me, if I need to open an app to speak to it, instead of it being on and listening at all times, it's fine.

#2 I don't want Google, Apple or Amazon to upload everything to their cloud. Today I only have IKEA home smart and I don't have high hopes for this (the app is great, but it's not a big computer with voice recognition), so I have computer ready where I'll soon install Home Assistant.

Anyone has an idea on how to do this efficiently or conveniently?
Thanks for anyone who can help or point to the right documentation!

KAJPLATS color fade, cycle, switch, strobe?

Hi all,
I just want my lights to

  1. slowly fade from a color to another
  2. quickly change from color to color in succession in a list
  3. on click, cycle from a list of colors to the next one
  4. react to music

But there's no such setting in IKEA home smart.
How could I do that?

I have 40+ KAJPLATS lights, 20+ BILRESA remotes, and a DIRIGERA.
I have set up all of my BILRESA to use scenes, there's always a day mode, night mode, off, and "special features" (mostly varied bright colors for fun).

I also set up Google Home, probably badly because I only have the lights and no remote, and when I think GH could use my DIRIGERA to be a Matter bridge, get the remotes, and give orders, it does not seem easy. I will look more into it later.

Would Alexa or Smart Things help? Would they always want their own devices and not really use my DIRIGERA?

I have a computer, I'm ready to install Home Assistant soon. I guess this will give way more flexibility and power (to the cost of the configuration being way harder, but I can do this).

Thanks for anyone who can help or point to the right documentation!
