ASC-US and HPV 51 and 53 positive - no colposcopy
Hi! I had my regular yearly PAP smear a little over a month ago which showed ASC-US, my first abnormal PAP result. Then a week ago I did an HPV test for the first time and it showed I am HPV 51 and 53 positive. My gynecologist recommended a PAP follow up in six months, didn't mention colposcopy at all.
I'm a bit worried about not having a colpo as I see online that doctors mainly recommend the procedure after both abnormal changes and HPV are found. I love my gyno, he's really great, but I'm wondering whether I should push for a colpo or just do the PAP in six months?
