Romulus 1st Shots
First off, I am really pleased with the Romulus. I have several high end 2011s and several more value driven 2011s. I really love the platform and consider this a mid-tier offering. I have heard a lot about the Romulus for the past couple of years and when I found a reasonably good deal on a 4.25” comp’d barrel with the high gloss slide… I pounced. I installed a Holosun 407k that I had and put 200 rounds of 115 grain and 124 grain bullets down range today. I was very pleased with the Romulus for speed and accuracy. FTR, I direct mounted the optic without a plate and couldn’t get my elevation worked out; clearly it needs an optic plate; none were provided in my shipment. I just aimed a little higher and have reached out to Alpha Foxtrot for the optic plates. I may transition to a SRO or Cyelee Chameleon for a bigger window & green reticle. I also shot my Staccato HDP4 next to it just to get an idea of how the trigger compares. It was comparable but not equivalent… the Staccato is just a much crisper break. The compensator was really great and kept it flat and back on target quickly. I do see what the detractors are talking about with the polymer grip… it’s suboptimal. I am sure at some point I will update it to the metal grip. All-in-all it’s a great value, fast and accurate with zero failures in my first 200 rounds.
