Forgot to include a publication

I’m in the process of submitting secondaries now, and I realized that my fellow group member from my research team actually published a paper and I didn’t know about it because I haven’t been able to attend research meetings recently. Fortunately, there is a place to upload documents, but is this gonna raise eyebrows? What should I mention when I send this update?

Explaining my MCAT score on the application?

I got back my MCAT score back yesterday (131/124/129/129).

I talked to my advisor about my grade today and she said I should at least provide an explanation for it. I’m not sure this matters, but I’m applying to MD/PhD and my MCAT is on the lower end, and maybe that was why my advisor suggested this.

For context, I came to this country 15+ years ago and English is not my first language. At home, I always use my first language, but I’m obviously fluent in English now after all these years. My advisor said it’s actually well-established that people who learn English as a second language (regardless of how fluent they are now) are more prone to struggle in English language tests like CARS, and she even said med schools actually know about this and recommended that I mention my background on my app.

I wanted to ask if anyone went through something similar and wanted to ask if this is actually something legit that I could put on my app. I’m a bit worried about putting this down because I’ve never heard about this and I really don’t wanna come across as making excuses, so I’d just like to confirm before proceeding. Thank you very much in advance!

Seeking advice after MCAT score release

Hi all, I’d like to ask for advice with the MCAT score released today.

I got 513, and I’m wondering if I should retake the exam. For context, GPA is 3.87 (BCPM 3.84), research hours are ~2200 (1 middle-author pubs, 1 more pending, and currently submitting first-author paper to conferences). Volunteer hour services are ~700-800.

I was hoping to apply this cycle. Is it possible to apply now with 513 and hopefully update the scores later (if I could hypothetically retake during the summer)?
