Sahti with no cold conditioning

Sahti with no cold conditioning

I’m a novice brewer (~10 brews) getting back into it after several years, along with a buddy of similar experience. For our first batch we went with a sahti, with zero further research. I figured we could spend brew day relearning, but there are a number of features to sahti that I never learned about in the first place. Turns out this was probably not the best choice as a way to return to the craft.

In any case, one feature is the cold conditioning. I skipped this, as I don’t have the setup for it, and I planned to go to bottle today after 15 days in the primary fermenter in basement temp. Then I started to wonder if the cold conditioning is necessary to bottle after ~14 days, as the recipe calls for. Am I okay to bottle today, or should I let it ferment closer to the the typical ~30 days? I’m a little worried that without the cold conditioning I’ll be setting off bottle bombs.

Rule Clairification: Nature’s Abundance

Nature’s Abundance reads ‘When [pow!] is added to a flora in this way, it may not exceed the flora’s [pow!] threshold. I’ve taken this to mean that the card cannot be used if it would clear the flora. This seems to be in the spirit of the card—nature provides all we need, if we take with respect, or something. In this case, if a flora has a threshold of 2, and there is already 1 [pow!] on it, the card cannot be used. But, of course, in this case the the threshold is only equaled, not exceeded.

I’m left to wonder how the card could *ever* exceed a flora’s threshold, since that would mean the threshold had already been equaled, and therefore cleared. Perhaps interactions with other cards may come into play, but I’ve not come across any that would.

I’m fairly comfortable with the rule set at this point, and can navigate the plain reading in most all circumstances. That this card still stumps me has me wondering if I’m missing something.

Can anybody add some clarification?
