Moebius 1972 Ford F-350 4X4 Tow Truck

Done! My final truck I'm building from Moebius. This tenth one might have one too many. It was by far the most difficult and fiddly. I would not recommend for a first build from them. Even with experience. Overall I'm happy with the way it turned out even though I didn't realize the front bumper had a sloppy fit when I added it to the frame. It's permanently crooked with super glue and kicker. The chains, different "cable" for the boom, and wheel dollys really helps the look. Last two pics were my inspiration and only 1972 bump side F-350 4X4 wrecker with this trim on the net. Anyway, thanks for looking.

Moebius 1972 Ford F-350 4X4 Tow Truck (WIP)

My last Moebius truck (tenth) I'm building this year. I'm glad I've built a bunch, it left me with a lot of extra parts to supplement this build. The 4X4 is pretty easy like all of their chassis. These wheels are not great, but will pass. If you're building or planning to build, pay close attention the the instructions for the wrecker boom assembly. It can be built two ways, but only enough parts to complete one assembly. There are extra tiny parts, but only one each. Also, the big chevron decal for the rear is on the small side, but will stretch a little. It's not perfect, but will have to work for me. I picked up the wheel dollys from Iceman Collections. The cable (thread) was replaced with some more realistic from Michael's, I also have silver chains from Michael's.

I should be finished tomorrow.

Moebius 1972 Ford F-100 Sport Custom

This will be the ninth Moebius truck and seventeenth truck for the year. As usual, easy to build, the only issue was the fan and radiator. There wasn't enough clearance, so the fan had to go. I've tried to give it blue streak tires. Not sure if it's good or not. Maybe I'll add small Goodyear decals. As usual, Tamiya paint for everything. Anyway, on to the next build. Thanks for looking!

AMT 1972 Chevy C10 Cheyenne Super

Number sixteen for the year. This one was relatively easy mainly because of it's origins. These C10 trucks were originally MPC molds and also used to produce dealer promos. Tamiya paints used and the orange did something odd. Where my holders were attached on the opposite sides of the bed and hood, the color changed slightly. You can only see it at odd angles. Back to building Moebius after this, but i have the ramp truck that will soon follow. Anyway, thanks for looking!

AMT 1972 Chevrolet C10 Cheyenne Super

Something different from the Moebius trucks I've been building. More to come later tonight or tomorrow. I should be finished.

Moebius 1971 Ford F-100 Ranger

So, here we are again. Number eight of ten Moebius trucks. I made a few mistakes and the kit had some issues. I had some purple paint flakes on my hand before I sprayed the pearl and didn't see it until too late. The trim is too far forward on the bed so it won't fit properly around the back. I discovered one of the custom wheels was distorted while painting it. It didn't eject out of the mold and kind of cones out. It's on the right front. Also, the windshield has a flaw in the plastic. Otherwise, another easy build. I used Testors Extreme Lacquer Purplicious and Tamiya base White all covered in Tamiya pearl. I trimmed it to Ranger specs and used another kits decal for the tailgate. It's the wrong font, but what I have. I also used a step bumper and optional mirrors from spares.

Moebius 1971 Ford F-100 Ranger XLT

I finished number seven of ten Moebius trucks for the year. I enjoyed finishing this one. It's XLT trim is interesting and was fun to detail. I have another one, but plan to finish it different As usual, Tamiya paints were used, and they really turned out well for me. On to the next one. Thanks for looking!

Moebius 1971 Ranger XLT Almost There

This one has been fun. Quite a bit more complicated with detail painting on the trim and parts. Really testing my eyes.

Ryan Blaney 2024 Wabash Pocono Raced Win 1/24 Nascar Diecast For Sale $70 plus shipping

I have two of these. One was on the shelf when I inadvertently saw this at a good price on eBay and clicked buy it now. When it arrived I realized my mistake. Anyhow, I'm asking what I paid $70, plus the cost to ship it to you. I'll take the loss of shipping and taxes from my purchase. The first two pictures were from the eBay seller, the last is mine to verify it's there.

AMT Ford LN8000 Race Car Hauler (Richard Petty)

This has not been the worst AMT kit I've ever built, but it's been frustrating. Purchased a few years ago to complete a childhood dream to build the Richard Petty Race Car Hauler. I had several of the Petty Darts and completed one several years ago. I'd also picked up some aftermarket decals for the combo. I did not use them, they were terrible. I used extra Petty decals I have. Anyway, this being the year of building trucks, this was included. I haven't attempted a semi since I was a kid in the seventies and the second one ended in the trash can. So, typical AMT vague instructions caused some issues. The front cross member is installed backwards. I worked around that. The transmission mounts are glued crooked. Did not realize until mounting radiator. The frame is turned to the right enough to affect the hood position. The front axle springs affected the position of the bumper. Hopefully when I build the cement mixer I I'll do better. Finally, the chrome was absolutely terrible.

I used Tamiya paint, and made just a few mods. I made some mounts on top of the frame for the removable ramps and cut a hole in the deck to slide them in. I also discovered the notches in the deck were too deep for the Dart to actually use. So, I cut them out and filled them. I planned to use diamond tread, but none was available in the area and the sheets I ordered were the wrong scale. I also added a 3D winch off of eBay.

AMT LN8000 Further Along

All I can do until the diamond tread plate sheet comes next week. Other than the wonky fitting hood. Not too bad so far.

AMT Ford LN8000 Race Car Hauler

Well, I'm taking a short break from pickups. This will be my first large truck build since I was a kid in the seventies. I only built one and attempted a second one. Anyway, I've wanted this kit since it was released in seventies as the Richard Petty Race Car Hauler. I should have gotten the second release, but missed it for some reason. I've had Petty Darts to build for years. So, I picked up the last issued Race Car Hauler and some second hand decals.

The Dart's been built for a few years. Now it's time to get this complete.

The build hasn't been horrible considering how old the dies are. The chrome plating is absolutely abysmal. I stripped most of it and sprayed the wheels with dull coat to make them look like aluminum.

The ramp deck was clearly an afterthought for the Dart. The Mustang or Torino it was initially designed for likely had a promo chassis and wire axles. The notches would prevent the car from rolling off to disaster. The wheel notches are too deep, so the suspension hits. In reality, no ramp trucks were ever built like this. I'm just going to fill them in. My LHS had no diamond tread plate in stock, so it's coming later this week. I've also opened a door in the center of the deck for the ramps to slide up onto the truck frame.

Most of the paint is finished and I've started assembly. I discovered the hard way the engine mounts were not perfect when I initially installed them so the engine was a bit to far forward and leaning. I had to whittle some plastic to get the radiator where it belongs.

More to come! Thanks for looking!

Moebius 1970 Ford F-100 Custom (Model King)

Twelfth model for the year and this will be the sixth Moebius truck completed. I built it with the optional wheels from the 1971 Ranger. I wanted green, but something different. So, I used Testors paint this time. Extreme lacquer lime ice and emerald green. The interior trim is extreme lacquer mystic emerald. Other than needing minor adjustments to get things to fit, these really are great kits. The only other observation is the trim isn't very accurate. Anyway, thanks for looking!

Moebius 1970 Ford F-100 Custom Cab 4X4

This is my fifth Moebius truck for the year, I have five more to complete. The picture on the box is deceiving. It's from Ford's brochure and is actually an F-250 that was photoshopped. I wasn't aware, but since starting this build, realized it's old news. Anyway, still built up well enough. I used Tamiya paints this time with no issues. Thanks for looking!

Moebius 1969 Ford F-100 Custom (Model King)

Knocked out another one. If I didn't have issues with paint, it would have been finished sooner. I had to strip the first paint off and even this one was terrible. I completed it anyways. I removed the trim off the bottom of the cab and the bed and the trim around the base of the roof. It didn't seem a Custom with one color needed this. It should have a regular air cleaner too, but for whatever reason, Moebius has an oil bath style for it. Anyway, that's my plain brown wrapper with a funky inside. Thanks for looking!

Moebius 1968 Mercury M-100

El Finito! Another one down, many more to go. So little good info on the webs about this truck. I'm pretty sure the tail gate letters should be white. Rear quarter panel marker /reflectors, I wasn't sure about being there, so I left them off. Some 68 M-100 have them. Same with F-100s. It appears all 69 F-100s have them, but no 69 M-100s were made.

Like other Moebius kits, well engineered, but lots of flash, parting lines, and push pin problems. Colors are Rustoleum 2X. I wanted to do something close to the factory colors of Wimbledon white and meadowlark yellow, but I couldn't find anything pale enough and I'm just not a huge fan of the whole airbrushing thing. I can, I have, I just hate the tedium. This is close to 1969 empire yellow. Thanks for looking!

Another Moebius kit completed. This one went well even with the change to V8 from the utility truck. I only had to fabricoble the exhaust and chassis mounts a bit to make it fit. There's a driveshaft included that fits. The only other issue was paint. I used Duplcolor and it shrank. No wrinkles, just pulled from corners and grooves as it dried. Never seen nothing like it other than decals. Thanks for looking!
