Intermittent “No READY” Startup Issue on 2023 Kia Niro EV - Anyone Else?

Has anyone seen this intermittent startup issue on a Kia Niro EV?

Sometimes the car powers on normally but does not show the green READY sign, so I can’t drive/select gear. I usually have to stop/start the car a few times before READY appears and then everything works perfectly.

Details:
- 2023 Kia Niro EV Trim 4 (UK)
- 24k miles
- Bought 3 weeks ago as Kia Approved Used
- ~4 years warranty remaining
- No warning messages
- Dashcam connected via cigarette lighter socket (not hardwired)

I’ve attached photos showing both states — with and without READY.

Has anyone faced this before? What was the actual fix?
Could it be related to:
- 12V battery
- key fob battery
- brake pedal sensor
- software issue
- dashcam/power draw

Also, since I just bought the car 3 weeks ago, should I expect the dealer to properly investigate/fix this under warranty even if the issue is intermittent?

Trying to avoid the usual “could not reproduce fault” response, so wondering what the best approach with the dealer would be.

I finally went with a used 2023 Kia Niro EV Trim 4 - 24k miles - in green from a Kia dealer. It came with around 3 years 11 months of Kia warranty remaining plus 12 months MOT, so that gave me a lot more confidence going used.

The dealer also provided a battery SOH report showing 100%, which was another big factor in going ahead with it.

Also decided to go with an Ohme charger for home charging after comparing a few options.

I moved from a manual petrol car to EV for the first time, so there’s definitely a learning curve, but I’m really enjoying it so far. Currently getting around 4.2–4.7 miles/kWh in city driving, which honestly surprised me.

The comfort, visibility and practicality seem great for family use.

Would love to hear any realworld tips/tricks from existing Niro EV owners on:
- getting the best possible range
- battery care habits
- regen braking settings
- motorway efficiency
- any useful hidden settings/features
- charger scheduling tips with Ohme

Thanks again.. 🙂
