Had lunch inside a cave in El Calafate – and it was worth every penny

Just got back from El Calafate, and the 'Nativo Experience' was easily one of the highlights of my trip.

You hop in a 4x4, drive along the shore of Lago Argentino, learn about the Tehuelche people, see 4,000-year-old cave paintings, and then... you sit down for lunch inside a cave with a view of the lake and the Andes. Honestly, the lamb casserole was incredible, the wine helped, and the setting was pure magic.

I'll attach one of my favorite photos from that afternoon – the light on the lake was unreal.

A couple of things I wish I'd known before going:
- It's about 3.5 hours total, so it's perfect for your first or last day in Calafate.
- The road is bumpy – if you get motion sick, take something before you go.
- They do have vegetarian options, but you need to let them know in advance.

Would I do it again? 100%.

Has anyone else done this? Or are you planning a trip to Calafate and have questions about this or other excursions? Happy to help – I learned a few things the hard way so you don't have to :)
