Anyone had a false negative with blood IGg?

I know there's a high false positive rate for blood IgG tests as it doesn't show if you have a current or past infection. I have not been treated for H. pilory before though so this problem doesn't apply to me.

I have had one H. pylori test before and it came back negative but I found out recently I wasn't prepped properly for it (had no idea I was supposed to stop my ppi, probiotic, and pepto bismol which I live off of). I'm getting the blood test to bypass these problems. I just don't want to be paranoid about another potential false negative due to improper prep.

Has anyone had a confirmed false negative on their Trio-Smart test and improved with Xifaxan?

I tested negative on all fronts via my trio-smart test but am highly symptomatic and miserable. Symptoms don't really align with SIFO, as I have zero problem with starchy carbs (I do have a problem with sugar but dissacharides analysis showed I have low brush border enzymes which could easily explain that). Fat absorption is just nonexistent and I have no hunger cues, neither of which are explained by sugar intolerance alone. I fit quite a lot of the risk factors (horrible diet + grazing before symptom onset, ppi usage, very high stress, test confirmed poor small bowel motility)

I also negative for c.diff and parasites (I work with wild animals so they did a DETAILED parasite work up on me). H pylori was negative too but I found out recently I didn't follow the proper prep. I'm going to get retested for that eventually but my only upper gi problems are LPR and constant burping. My worst reflux episodes are highly associated with my worst bloating/gas episodes so I think it's the gas putting pressure on my stomach and causing the reflux.

I just learned recently that you're supposed to avoid anything that could cause heavy breathing before and during the your SIBO test which I failed to do and I wonder if it caused low hydrogen levels. My horrible motility also makes me wonder if the lactulose ever got where it was supposed to go in the first place.

My doc filled a prescription for xifaxan and metronidazole, insurance covered it (thank god) and my dietitian really wants me to take it. She tells me that even if I don't have sibo, I almost certainly have some severe dysbiosis and xifaxan would help with that. I just wonder how likely it is that I got a false negative and if it's worth a shot before I do anything crazy. It also means I'll have to put off that stupid h pylori retest another 6 weeks. I'm just dying for a cure though and if this fixes me then hallelujah.

Noticed blood in stool on 2nd day of oregano oil. Incindental or should I stop treatment?

No diarrhea but some incomplete evacuation. The blood was light colored, not dark or tarry. I was straining a little so I wonder if it was just incindental. Should I stop?

Practitioner wanting to treat me empirically for H2S SIBO (ISO?) despite negative testing. Good or bad idea?

Hi, I made a post a couple months ago about testing negative for SIBO despite strongly indicative symptoms. I'm seeing a practitioner right now who is wanting to empirically treat me for hydrogen sulfide overproduction. These are the symptoms I'm experiencing:

  1. Lost hunger cues (no phase III MMC activity)
  2. Excessive gassy symptoms (constant trapped gas pain, constant burping, burning hot rotten egg farts, bloating, lower belly gurgling). Develops 2-5 hours after eating.
  3. Poor tolerance of fodmaps, fiber, and sugar (gives gassy symptoms)
  4. Regurgitation hours after eating
  5. Poorly digested stool (improves with digestive enzymes. Yellow and slimy with undigested chunks. Have had mucus before. Sometimes straight liquid diarrhea)
  6. Reflux that worsens with traditional treatments (antacids, ppis, potentially even prokinetics). Seems associated to the gas
  7. Relatively fast overall gut transit time
  8. Urinary urgency + bladder pain

All these symptoms developed *VERY SUDDENLY* after going off a high dose PPI. I admittedly stopped very abruptly when I should have tapered off. I had gastritis for a while but a recent endoscopy showed that the active inflammation is gone and I no longer have any burning pain. My GI doubts it could still be causing this much downstream trouble.

Endoscopy also showed a potential acquired pan-dissacharidase deficiency. I have been using digestive enzyme supplements to try to combat this but the fact that the enzymes haven't helped me at all with the gassy symptoms leads the practitioner and I to believe that there's something more than just this deficiency. I've also heard this can be caused by SIBO. Plus, I seem to handle starchy carbs (potatoes, rice) just fine and instead react more to fodmaps, fiber, and sugar.

I'm in a weird situation now where I can't get any additional testing done for 4+ weeks, which is why my current practitioner was wanting to do empirical treatment. She wants me taking 250mg of this ADP emulsified oil of oregano 3x daily with food for a week, then decreasing to 150mg 3x daily. I'd also be taking this biofilm buster with bismuth subnitrate twice a day. She already has me on motegrity at night for MMC stimulation.

I'm concerned because this dosage seems a lot higher than what I've heard recommended, especially considering the fact that I didn't even test positive. I wanted to hear what the community thinks of this. Bad idea, or worth a shot? I've heard some horror stories about oil of oregano and I'm really worried about getting sicker, but I'm getting tired of waiting and chasing my tail.

I get no phase III MMC activity - no hunger cues - stomach never growls between meals - never get those cleaning waves you're supposed to get when fasting. I use prucalopride before bed to stimulate some overnight activity but it doesn't last throughout the day.

I just wonder how useful it is to space meals 4+ hours apart during the day if this is my situation? When I meal space I feel like the food just sits motionless in my guts and gas builds up over time and just makes me more and more bloated. I have a strong gastrocolic reflex so I feel like things move way better if I eat often.

Anyone in a similar place/have similar thoughts?

Been drinking lactaid milk with breakfast every day for the past week wishfully thinking my body could handle it but literally every time I'll bloat up and be burping and regurgitating it for hours. Been telling myself it's something else, maybe the eggs, grits, bacon, or avocado but no I removed everything else and it really is just the milk. It's a huge bummer and I have no idea why I can't handle it, especially because I seem to do hard cheeses just fine. Does anyone else struggle with lactaid milk?

Sorry for the dumb post but this disease is just so stupid I cannot wrap my head around it.

My actual transit time from stomach to toilet is quite fast and I have a very strong gastrocolic reflex. My problem is that my stomach just never growls between meals. No phase III activity. I thought it was a hunger cues thing because your stomach is supposed to growl when it's hungry, so I've tried medications that supposedly increase your appetite (mirtazapine, cyproheptadine) but they did nothing.

I have no idea what to do about this because it means laxatives and prokinetics just give me diarrhea. Anyone in a similar boat? Has this ever been solved?
