When liberals talk politics, what does MAGA mean?

As a lifelong conservative I’ve never met anyone who calls themselves maga nor do I know what that means.

To us, maga is like Q-Anon, Groypers, and White nationalist - terms that the left invents to scare fellow leftists into voting for them, but that aren’t connected to actual conservatives

What do these terms mean? How do I know if I’m maga?

Would you be comfortable if your upcoming major surgery were w/a doctor who benefitted from DEI?

Liberals like to think that DEI doesn’t have any impact on quality of outcomes.

Would you be ok learning that your surgeon for a major procedure got through college and med school via DEI programs and not purely on merit?

That they got their current job via a DEI initiative that prioritized immutable characteristics?

Would you publicly profess belief in an absurdity in order to facilitate someone else’s feelings of inclusivity?

Assume the MAGA crowd adopts the belief that the earth is flat. Anyone who disagrees would be considered to be causing offense, and you could lose your job for stating that believers of that idea were wrong.

Not going with the crowd could cause you to lose your livelihood. Maybe get you expelled from school. You’d be accused of attacking others and not being inclusive

Would you publicly profess a belief that the world was flat in order to comport to social norms?

Will you support a federal bailout when a blue state goes bankrupt?

If you look at the three biggest blue states, CA, NY, and CA, they all have massive public debts, shrinking populations, and shrinking tax bases.

If one of these states needs a bailout from the Feds will you support it? Should red states bail out blue ones?

What’s the upper limit on crazy that we’ll see from DSA candidates this election cycle?

First came Mamdani, with his radical stances on private property and social services. Then we Nithya in Los Angeles who’s even more far left.

Now we have a gubernatorial candidate in Wisconsin who wants to abolish prisons, borders, thanksgiving, to name a few.

How crazy are things going to get?

Where do we as a society draw the line between “pro girls” and “anti trans”?

Sophie Cunningham is all over the news because she came out strongly in favor of women’s sports being for biological women only.

She never said anything bad about trans people or their movement. She didn’t mention them at all. Yet her comments are being labeled as anti trans.

Where do we draw the line between being for girls, and against trans?

Are liberals consistent in how they apply their values to politicians?

Graham Platner has a massive Nazi tattoo on his chest and was a credibly accused sex pest prior to dropping out of the election. Yet he won his primary by a landslide and had the full support of Bernie, Ro, Liz, and the establishment

Yet when I turn on MSNBC, I’m always being presented with stories of GOP Rep Collins who they say has “ties to white nationalism”. Those ties are his son in law retweeting something written by someone with unsavory views. Collins has never done anything.

Why is the left so willing to look past horrific behavior when it suits them, yet so aggressively hold republicans to a much higher standard?

Should liberals define what amount of taxes constitutes the “fair share” that they want the rich to pay?

In the US the bottom 44% of American workers don’t pay Federal taxes. The majority of taxes is paid by the top 10%.

Yet liberals think the rich still aren’t paying f their “fair share”.

What is the fair share taxpayers need to pay in order to appease the portion of the poor who don’t pay taxes at all?

Should the Democrats have better messaging about benefits fraud? Are they on the wrong side of this issue?

Republicans have done a great job of surfacing and reporting on benefits fraud in (mostly) blue states. Democrats do nothing about it.

Worse.c democrats states are refusing to share data with the Feds to help with benefits fraud

Are democrats once again picking the wrong side of a polarizing issue? Is this illegal immigration 2.0, where Trump and Vance bang the drum about democrats being out of touch while democrats double down on the wrong issue?

How would Medicare for all not become captured by the political class for their benefit?

During the Biden admin, Medicare was used to advance all sort of political causes like “health equity”, whatever that means, gender equity, racial equity, etc. At one point the NIH mandated that a certain percentage of researchers in Baltimore area labs needed to be black.

Do liberals think it’s a good thing for our healthcare to be merged with the agendas of political activists?

Should provision of healthcare in the US be driven by political concerns? If we don’t want this, how could we avoid it?

If the US implemented universal healthcare who would ration resources?

In any market, especially healthcare, our desire for goods and services exceeds the supply. Someone has to ration it.

In the current model insurance companies do this with policies, copays, standards, etc. eventually we all get to the place where things will get denied.

In a universal system, who decides when grandma doesn’t get that emergency surgery or the first class nursing home?

What does the term fascism mean when liberals describe conservatives?

I see liberals calling people they don’t like fascists, and we’re constantly warned that Republicans are pro fascist.

What does that even mean? What is the definition?

Or is there even a definition? Does it just mean everyone who is right of Joy Behar on the political spectrum?

Is it meant to stifle discussion on sensitive topics?

Is it racist to be critical of the Chinese government?

Reading on MSNBC how Marsha Blackburn’s comments about communists and Chinese policies is racist.

Do liberals think it’s possible to be critical of China without being racist? How should one frame their comments to avoid being labeled a racist?

For the second time in as many elections, the Democrats are forcing out the candidate who won the primary, so the elites can pick their favored candidate - is this a good thing?

Graham Platner is going the way of Joe Biden. He was chosen by the elites to run in the primary, like Biden, and won.

Like Biden, he became toxic between the primary and the general election so the Democratic elite forced him out so they can choose a candidate of their liking.

This seems like a troubling pattern. The will of the people is being ignored.

Is this popular among liberals?

Do you think the Patriot Front March yesterday was real or fake?

Given what we know about left leaning groups faking right wing events (Terry McCauliffe hiring tiki torch bearing men to show up at Glenn Youngkins events and the SPLC sponsoring hate groups) don’t think the Patriot Front March was real?

Looks a lot like a staged event.

Do you think poverty is created, or made worse, by rich people “hoarding all the money”?

I see this comment a lot. We need to tax Bezos and Musk more because they’re hoarding all the money.

There’s a fixed quantity of money and if a rich person has more than they need they’re viewed as depriving others of having money.

Economists don’t think this, but it gets a lot of play.

Do people in this sub believe this?

Are certain races and age groups less welcome in certain neighborhoods, and is this a good thing?

My job may be relocating me to Oakland, and we’re thinking of moving to be closer to work.

As a middle class white man, would I be welcome there, or would I be “displacing” people who should live there? Would I be viewed as a “gentrifier”?

My alternative is to live in the burbs, but then I open myself up to people saying I’m engaging in “white flight”

Are these real things, or just stuff people say on reddit. Should I just move where I want to?

What do people in this sub think of the “forever president”?

Prior to Barrack Obama, US presidents left DC and retired to their states. Do some golfing.

Carter retired to Habitat for Himanity. Bush Sr never went after Clinton, and Bush Jr never went after Obama.

Clinton got after Bush Jr, via Hillary, but even he observed this rule.

Barrack Obama is the first president to remain actively engaged in national politics. Speaking out against his successor and campaigning in various states.

Is this a positive development? Are liberals excited for Trump to remain in the picture for years to come?
