2024 Accord Hybrid: CarPlay/infotainment system basically unusable.
Bought my 2024 Honda Accord Hybrid Sport brand new with 7 miles on the odometer. Current mileage is 37,689.
About five months into ownership, I started having intermittent CarPlay/infotainment issues. First service visit for the problem was at 12,321 miles. Since then, the car has been back to the dealership 8 times for the same issue, and now the problem has become constant.
It originally started with the system acting like I was still on a phone call after hanging up. Music wouldn’t play, volume and track controls stopped working, and I couldn’t switch to Bluetooth. The only fix was pulling over and restarting the car.
Now it has escalated significantly. The system constantly says “Audio function not available during call” even when no call has been made. I lose all audio and phone controls through both the steering wheel and infotainment screen. I have to physically use my iPhone to control music, answer calls, or view texts.
If I tap an incoming text message on the screen, it immediately exits Apple CarPlay and returns to the Honda home screen instead of reading the message. Same issue with phone calls.
Additional issues:
Infotainment profiles won’t switch anymore. Only my profile is lit up; all others are grayed out.
The system recently started displaying “Could not sync meter settings.”
Bluetooth and audio functions randomly stop responding entirely.
The dealership initially claimed they couldn’t duplicate the issue until I literally drove it in while it was happening multiple times. Since then, I’ve been given several explanations:
Non-OEM charging cable (even though I primarily use wireless CarPlay)
My phone updates faster than the car software
“The phone and infotainment system just don’t get along”
For context, both my husband and I experience the same issue with different iPhones and different update schedules.
So far they have:
Performed the recall
Hard reset the system multiple times
Contacted Honda tech support
According to the dealership, Honda acknowledged the issue but currently has no fix.
I’m dropping it off again tomorrow. They also attempted to say I was out of warranty, despite the service manager previously confirming anything related to this ongoing issue would remain covered.
I’m honestly beyond frustrated at this point. I’m making payments on a newer vehicle where the hands-free system and infotainment functions barely work anymore. I’m in California, where hands-free functionality while driving is legally important, and having to constantly grab my phone defeats the entire purpose of the system.
Has anyone else with a 2024 Accord Hybrid experienced this? Did Honda ever actually fix it?
I would upload videos and pictures but my navigation is on and it shows my address.
