I inherited a small collection of silver coins. Junk silver as it is called. There may be a few peace silver dollars worth more than melt and some 1939-d mercury dimes but I have learned that the real way to tell if a coin is valuable is this:

If you have one, it is not one of the really valuable ones.

That said, I would be excited to get a few hundred bucks and would like to know whether I should take it to a place in the upstate or should I just do a reliable mail in on the internet.
