Found this little lady headed home from work on Tuesday

I was headed north on 385 coming home on Tuesday and passed what I thought looked like a kitten standing on the shoulder near the Bridges Rd exit, half in the grass, half on the pavement. I had already driven a ways past her when I decided that it definitely WAS a cat, so I had to exit, double back, and then come back down 385. Thankfully she was still there and hadn't wandered into traffic. I nabbed her, put her up for the night in my bathroom, and she is now living happily with a friend who wanted a kitten. Nothing super thrilling, just thought it was crazy to find her on the highway of all places.

Fall For Greenville's music lineup kinda rocks

Fall For Greenville 2026 music lineup attached for reference.

It's kinda fascinating that a food festival has become a legitimate music festival & it's always packed (particularly for the headliners every night), but some people are conflicted because they don't recognize the bands?

I always thought Fall For Greenville is great to find those bands because they're great.

For many people who don't go out to see live music often, I get it, for sure.

Like if you haven't seen Ca$h Machine yet, you wouldn't know to tell anyone how raw & unique they are.
If you haven't been to the Radio Room, I get why you wouldn't know to see its founder play with The Indoor Kids, but that should be a blast regardless.

If you go to Bon Secours or the Peace Center every now and then but don't really ever go to events at places like Downtown Alive, Fireforge, Main Street Fridays, Albino Skunk Fest, the Radio Room, Porch Beers at Stray Wheel Estate, Smiley's on the Roxx, Artisphere, Wild Yarrow Brewing, HP Porch Fest, Old School Tavern, Swanson's Warehouse (RIP), Chicora Alley or Golden Grove, it's not really fair to say the lineup stinks, & it's definitely not accurate, either.

If you're curious, though, this year's lineup is frankly remarkable.

The music in Greenville has grown big enough with enough legitimate competition that you can't see all the good ones on a given weekend now, and then there's Fall For Greenville with a ridiculously huge collection of them in one place, and the shows are all free?

The biggest complaint seems to be "no A-list-popular band," & I get that too. I'm just not sure it would (or could) matter anyway? The stages are always packed for every headliner, so if Tears For Fears played at the main stage on Friday night the crowd would be just as packed by nature is all; Oasis would have the same size crowd at night as Treehouse & Randomonium did last year in the afternoon. I definitely understand why a big act would be the reason many people who wouldn't normally go might change their minds & then see other bands as a side effect, for sure, but it's still a sincerely great lineup and it will be packed just the same, make no mistake.

Just remember Fall For Greenville was always a food festival, then the city chose to add music, then more music every year since, & now it's frankly enormous; they wouldn't be able to do it like this if there wasn't enough talent or demand for it outright. It's the last big live music event of the year put on by the city and it's a massive celebration of a ridiculous amount of volunteer-led, live outdoor music since March.

P.S.: If you still refuse to go to Fall For Greenville, there's always an amazing Oktoberfect at Hans & Franz Biergarten the same weekend, also with free live (polka) music.

I know they’re working on developing the old Union Bleachery site right now, and have left the original smokestack building up. Does anyone know when they might start to renovate that building? I saw they’re turning it into a restaurant or something.

Hi,
we’re four guys, and we’ve put together Westminster’s restaurant scene in an app called Vota. The concept is simple: you see two places side by side (for example Famille vs. Kachina Southwestern Grill), you choose the place you’d rather go to, and the ranking updates instantly. The more people vote, the more accurate the list gets over time. There are still a few duplicates here and there, but I’m continuously cleaning up the data.

Mauldin Special Called City Meeting

The city just posted a meeting for tomorrow night. They are going to hold an Executive Session where they go into a closed door meeting to discuss a senstive topic. Usually personnel issues, legal issues, real estate or security issues. It is in reference to the GE Vernova Stadium at Bridgeway. Anyone heard anything? Seems important since it was short notice.

SC county (Oconee) votes to defund Flock cameras, a potential first for the state

Can't believe the county I grew up in is leading the charge on this in South Carolina.

Greenville next!

I know there's a lot of popular sentiment around getting rid of flock cameras but they're definitely not the only AI driven surveillance tech departments use. In 2023, Kashmir Hill wrote a book called Your Face Belongs to Us about AI powered facial detection company Clearview AI and how their software was getting rapid adoption by law enforcement agencies across the US.

I'm hoping that this sentiment doesn't cease after flock gets reigned in.

Michelin

Is it true you need to know people to be able to get a job with Michelin? My boyfriend applied months ago and they just called him the other day. He has an interview coming up. This job would be life changing for us, but he doesn’t have any manufacturing/warehouse experience except for a few months with Dennis eagle years ago.

He had a very good cover letter and resume though… and the lady on the phone sounded like she thought he would be perfect. But after speaking with my coworkers about it they said Michelin is very hard to get into and you need to know people..

Need a new wing spot

I am looking for a new wings place. I don’t much care for wingstop. Preferably a place that does a good non breaded fried buffalo wing and one with a good teriyaki sauce. I’m also looking for a buffalo sauce on the thicker side. I know it’s a weird ask, but I have craving I can’t get rid of. 😂😂😂

Word of mouth is my go to when selecting anyone to do work. I will never understand the companies that throw trash in your driveway.

most of the company's bad reviews are due to their marketing

the owner repiles with this:

I’m just gonna say it, there is no good Chinese food here RANT

I have been here almost 3 years. Have tried so many place from Piedmont, Powdersville, Mauldin , Simpsonville, and Greenville. There is no good Chinese takeout food. I’ve been on fb foodie post trying their recommendations… trash. It till the point I crave it so much, but I know it gonna be barely decent and a waste of money. First of all, fried rice in the upstate is weird, it just soy sauce mix with streamed white rice. I can’t even tell if it fried or not. First time I thought it was brown rice. Second, some place don’t even have crab rangoon but instead “cheesy fried wontons”. Third, before I order I look at the google pictures and they don’t even match not even close. Once I ordered black pepper chicken and on the website with photos it was fried then I ordered it was boiled chicken. I just want some good Chinese food. So now I’m here, so please help me not waste money. BTW I’m from north Indiana if that’s help.
What I usually get is

Fried dumplings
Beef fried rice
Black pepper chicken
Shrimp mei fun
Bourbon chicken
Sweet and sour chicken

P.S People who give recommendations for food, but post screenshots of the website and not actually what they got is very annoying. Like the ones post saying they went there and posting the food they got and random ones on the website, doesn’t make sense.

Edit: Fourth thing lots of Chinese have really good reviews like too good, but all the recently ones saying they were good but not anymore and one stars, so please give me a recent recommendation.
