Strange problem with Roku

I have a Roku Ultra on my main LG TV that I use. I love Roku overall, but for the last year or so this very strange thing has been happening. The screen just goes to a pink-purple tint. And the only way to fix it is to unplug the Roku and plug it back in. It's not only on the menu screens. Sometimes it also happens to the video that's playing. I've tried a bunch of stuff from changing the HDMI cable, changing the HDMI input on the TV, to factory resetting the unit. Still.... nothing. Roku tech support was nice, but they obviously have no clue to this problem. (I call. They tell me to restart it. In their mind, "problem solved!" No. It just does it again.) This sometimes happens 4-5 times in one night. Sometimes it doesn't happen for a few days. I'm dumbfounded. Does anyone have a similar problem or have any advice? If this was a cheap Roku stick, I'd ditch it and buy another. But the Ultra is/was expensive. Thanks for your help. less

Rhino's latest Quadio series

If you're not familiar, Rhino (Warner) has been releasing original quadraphonic recordings from the 1970s on Blu-ray. Everything from Chicago to Black Sabbath to Judy Collins to Alice Cooper. Excellent stuff with the quad mixes from the original master tapes in the Warner vaults. And, at $25 each or 4/$80 in a bundle, it's an excellent deal. Here are the latest ones.

Personally, I like these quad mixes because they tend to be more dynamic and interesting than modern 5.1 and Atmos stuff. Producers were really trying to show off this new thing called quad by getting rather adventurous in their mixes.

Donations for Sergeant Diana Muñoz

You likely know the story: a massive accident that killed five people including a Greenville City Police officer, seriously injured her wife (who I believe is still in critical condition but said to be "improving",) and the two parents of the injured wife, who is also a sergeant for the Greenville City PD. Besides the obvious unbelievable sadness of this story, the couple has two young children.

I really wanted to donate to the Go Fund Me account to help, but I'm sorry. If I wanted to donate $100, I was going to have to pay $16 in fees. That's a profit for Go Fund Me that I'm just not willing to do. If you think about it, they wanted to raise $70,000 for the sergeant's recovery. That means GFM would be making $11,000 from those transactions! IMHO that's $11,000 that could have gone to help this family.

After doing some digging, I found out that the Greenville (City) Police Foundation has also set up a fund for Sgt Muñoz. So that's where my $100 went. I only paid $3 more to pay for the credit card processing fees that the GPF has to pay. I would highly recommend if you have it in your heart to help, even just a few bucks, you go this route. Thank you.

Our SC legislators are going to over double their salaries before this session ends.

This is a story from the Nicholas Reynolds in Post & Courier, so it's likely behind a paywall. But here's the gist of it:

"South Carolina legislators are poised to give themselves their first pay raise in decades in the closing days of the 2026 legislative session. With little debate, the House Ways and Means Committee voted 12-2 this week to increase their pay from about $22,400 per year to approximately $47,500 per year.

This sets the proposal up for a floor vote ahead of May 14, when the session ends."

I'm SO glad the economy is doing so well, taxes are down and life is more affordable so that we can give these folks the increase they deserve. /s

I purchased a bunch of tickets for a group of friends who wanted to go, but one can't make it. So, rather than have it go to waste, I'd like to give it to someone. Maybe you can't afford to go. Or maybe you're just feeling lost and alone. The concert will make you feel loved and welcomed! (It's a ticket for one of the better seats, too. Up front!)

The concert is tonight, Wednesday, at the Greenville Theater. 7pm.

Please message me directly. I'll be able to text you the ticket with a QR code that you'll show at the door.

I apologize for just one ticket, but if you have friends who want to go with you, more can still be purchased. But this one is free.

It was $.30 cents cheaper yesterday!! Most of the stations I passed today were $4.29 including the QT on Woodruff at Verdae and the Shell at Stone and Main.

In this clip, a 98.9 WORD talk show host is threatening violence if the Democrats win in November. He should be fired -- but that's what these crazy talk show hosts do and no one holds them accountable. Advertisers need to dump the station.

If you're like me and watch over-the-air TV sometimes, you might (like me) have issues with WLOS 13 based in Asheville. It's always difficult to point my antenna in the right direction. And, recently, it's absolutely GONE from my TV.

Here's the deal: the station had a lower power translator on top of Paris Mountain. (Translators take the main signal and boost it.) That translator really helped get the station to cover Greenville. But that translator is now gone. A new and improved one is coming soon with more power. And WLOS is moving their main transmitter to Pinnacle Mountain so coverage in our area will be greatly improved.

The signal should return by sometime in mid June.
