I have my Mom's wedding ring from 1953 that I have no use for. There's no one in the family to give it to. I'm the last in line. I was hoping to sell it and I plan to donate the money to some special non profit. I have a new appraisal for it (although I know the amount is really for insurance purposes and not for real selling value) and I have a very cool appraisal from 1953. A great novelty to have.

This is NOT intended for me to sell the ring on here. Genuinely looking for a jeweler or estate sale type company that buys these types of things.

I've seen all kinds of stuff since his death. Everything from trying to remember how he used to be, to his lovely quote about Trump destroying the Republican party, to some stuff going around from some boys talking about what he allegedly did with them. Some I believe. Some I don't. But this hit me hard because I have so much respect for this man. I didn't wish Lindsey dead, but I'm not sad either.

I got a press release this morning about new solar panels going on top of two parking garages. This is such a good idea! Not only will the airport have backup power but the top deck of the garages get covered parking. Win-win.

Here's what part of the release said:

As GSP prepares for a major runway rehabilitation project to enhance safety, reliability, and long-term operations, several other improvements are also underway to enhance the passenger experience, strengthen airport resiliency, and support the airport's continued growth.

One of those projects is the construction of a 3-megawatt solar canopy array with a 4-megawatt battery energy storage system, which began in June. Once complete, the system will generate enough electricity to power the airport's terminal independently of the public power grid. By producing its own energy and storing backup power, GSP will be better equipped to maintain operations during inclement weather and power outages while reducing long-term utility costs.

Solar panels will be installed on the roofs of Parking Garages B and C, providing covered parking on the top level of each garage while generating clean energy. Parking Garage A will be included in a future phase of the project. The solar project is expected to be completed by Fall 2027.

I know last year was pretty successful, but I can't believe how many people turned out for Pride in downtown Greenville today. It's going on right now though 5PM along Main Street, with the big stage at the Peace Center.

North Main, between E. North and College/Beattie, is closed today. It was also closed yesterday. Police cars are blocking the road. Also, the entrance doors to the Hyatt by Roost are closed. (You can still get in the hotel, just not through those doors. There are no signs on the doors.)

I stopped at the front desk to let them know the doors were locked. (It's happened before by accident, so I thought it might be the same situation.) One of the front desk clerks told me it was for "security reasons." He would not elaborate.

Does anyone know what they are building? It's down the street from the Post Office and used to be a playground.

We would like to find a great walking area for us and our big dog.

We usually walk the French Broad River Walk starting at the New Belgium brewing and walk up to where that park used to be. But since Helene, much of the trail is closed. It's still a nice but we know we can go longer.

Is there another place in the area that's similar. We actually like a paved area better, but open to suggestions.

I don't have an Atmos system, but my modified quadraphonic one will do just fine for the 5.1 mix. I also typically don't like to order (unless I have to) from non US suppliers due to shipping and exchange rates. But on day one of the pre-order, I ordered this one. It's truly a classic album.

I have a Roku Ultra on my main LG TV that I use. I love Roku overall, but for the last year or so this very strange thing has been happening. The screen just goes to a pink-purple tint. And the only way to fix it is to unplug the Roku and plug it back in. It's not only on the menu screens. Sometimes it also happens to the video that's playing. I've tried a bunch of stuff from changing the HDMI cable, changing the HDMI input on the TV, to factory resetting the unit. Still.... nothing. Roku tech support was nice, but they obviously have no clue to this problem. (I call. They tell me to restart it. In their mind, "problem solved!" No. It just does it again.) This sometimes happens 4-5 times in one night. Sometimes it doesn't happen for a few days. I'm dumbfounded. Does anyone have a similar problem or have any advice? If this was a cheap Roku stick, I'd ditch it and buy another. But the Ultra is/was expensive. Thanks for your help. less

If you're not familiar, Rhino (Warner) has been releasing original quadraphonic recordings from the 1970s on Blu-ray. Everything from Chicago to Black Sabbath to Judy Collins to Alice Cooper. Excellent stuff with the quad mixes from the original master tapes in the Warner vaults. And, at $25 each or 4/$80 in a bundle, it's an excellent deal. Here are the latest ones.

Personally, I like these quad mixes because they tend to be more dynamic and interesting than modern 5.1 and Atmos stuff. Producers were really trying to show off this new thing called quad by getting rather adventurous in their mixes.
