PSA: Sharing the Love in Themed Review Exchanges

Hello everyone,

Just a gentle reminder about themed review exchanges (REs).

While you are always free to read whichever works interest you, we encourage participants to review the works that have been shared for that exchange whenever possible.

Themed exchanges are designed to highlight the specific fics that participants have chosen to share for that particular theme.

Reviewing those submissions helps ensure they receive the attention they were entered for, while also giving everyone the chance to discover new authors, fandoms, and stories they might not have found otherwise.

We ask that when participating in a themed exchange, you consider branching out and reviewing works from participants you have not had the chance to read before.

Spreading your lovely reviews around gives more authors the opportunity to receive feedback and connect with new readers.

Thank you for sharing the love across our sub. We appreciate y'all!

💜🩷🩵Long Deadline Profile Exchange🩵🩷💜

Hiya! Happy Friday!

HOW IT WORKS: This is an r/FanfictionExchange event where participants post their AO3 (or FFN, etc.) profile with a description of the kinds of stories they write. Others then browse the profiles, pick a fic (one-shot or chapter) to read, and leave a review (leaving kudos would be nice too!)

ENTRY DEADLINE: Sunday, July 19th, 11:59 pm EDT (UTC-4)

REVIEW DEADLINE: Saturday, July 25th, 11:59 pm EDT (UTC-4)

Here’s a timezone converter. Reminders will be sent out about 48 hours before the deadline.

WHAT ARE THE RULES?

Post your profile link with a short summary of what readers can expect (fandoms, genres, ratings, etc.) Please spoiler any triggering or NSFW content.

Once you enter, you’ll need to read and review at least 4 one-shots/chapters from 4 different authors. Please keep track of your reviews at the end of your entry, like “Reviewed: 0/4“ or something similar. There’s no need to indicate which stories or authors you’ve reviewed.

As per rule 8, reviews must be genuine, thoughtful, and detailed, with a minimum of 50 words about the fic itself, clearly demonstrating you’ve read it.

Concrit (constructive criticism) and/or mentioning that you are “fandom blind” or “from Reddit” are opt-in only. Don’t include these in your reviews unless the author says you can.

Once you’ve reviewed a fic, reply to the author’s entry here to let them know, like “K&C” (kudos and commented) or something similar.

If you join, do not delete your entry. You must complete the required reviews as part of the exchange. If anything comes up and you’re concerned about meeting the deadline, please reach out to the mods for an extension.

PS. Only reply to an author’s entry when you’ve read their fic or if you have questions. Refrain from chit-chat, gifs, or images in these replies. We manually check everything to track completed reviews, and with the high number of entries, extra replies make it much harder for us to verify who has met the requirements.

If you want guidance on giving reviews, check out our Review Guidelines and Resources.

If you’re new to REs, see Joining Review Exchanges.

💖Your Favorite Exchange/Fest/Activity💖

Happy 3rd Birthday to us!!! 🎉

So we’re spending this wk looking back at some of the things that have made this sub so special~ and for today, we’d love to ask what has been your favorite exchange or fest/event or activity?

Personally, I still have a very soft spot for the Valentine’s/LoveFest. Before I became a mod, I asked permission if I could host a little Valentine’s writing event and it ended up being sucha lovely experience. Seeing so many people join in, write for the prompts I gave them, share their different takes on love made it really special to me. It came back again this year, and seeing more members participate in it made me so happy.

When I first joined, I was just looking for a beta reader. I stayed bc I found people who were willing to read and take a chance on my niche fandoms and rare pairings. That has always meant a lot and I’m very grateful.

We’d also like to give a huge thank you to everyone who has hosted exchanges and activities here. We have grown not just bc of the mod team but bc members have brought in their own ideas and love for fanfiction.

Cheers to 3 yrs of reading, discovering new fandoms, and celebrating each other’s stories 💕

For this exchange, you’re required to read and review 3 fics from 3 different authors. At least 2 of those must be for authors who are new to you.

The third review can be either another new-to-you author or a long-time favorite.

If you’ve already read something by everyone participating, please review authors whose work you’ve read the least. Feel free to review more than the requirement if you want. Leaving a kudos is super nice too!

Monthly Shlong Swap: June 2026

Welcome to the JUNE edition of our Monthly Shlong Swap Review Exchange!

In this exchange, we offer up our short-long fics and swap with other writers for a minimum of 10k words.

WHAT IS A SHLONG?

DEADLINES – all are 11:59 PM EDT (UTC-4):
To enter: June 7th
To finalize swaps: June 10th
To complete swaps: June 24th

Here’s a time zone converter

THE RULES:

  1. Offer up a long fic, or a specific arc of a long fic, which is at least 10k words. Works must be posted at the time of the swap. In your entry, include: title and link, fandom, rating, summary, any content warnings (spoiler triggering and NSFW content), and the word count being offered (specifying whether this refers to the whole fic, a set number of chapters, or an arc).
  2. Look through the thread to find stories to swap for. Swaps can be for chapter count, word count, or a combination of both, provided it’s explicitly agreed between both parties upfront. You may turn down a proposed swap for any reason, you don't need to explain why.
  3. Record your swaps clearly, including the Reddit username of your swap partner (without the “u/”) and a counter for the number of chapters you have agreed to review. Mark swaps once they are complete, as below:

>Swap 1: Reddit Username – 0/2
Swap 2: Reddit Username – 3/5
Swap 3: Reddit Username – 10/10 – completed

Participants may not have more than three (3) incomplete swaps at any time.

If you are unable to find a swap partner by the deadline, you have no review obligations. However, please do not delete your entry, as the mod team will need to take note of this.

IMPORTANT: All the usual subreddit rules apply. As per Rule 8, all reviews must be genuine, thoughtful, and detailed, with a minimum of 50 words about the fic itself per chapter, demonstrating you’ve actually read the agreed portion of the fic.

Concrit (constructive criticism) and mentioning that you are “fandom blind” or “from Reddit” are opt-in only. Don’t include any of these in your reviews unless the author has explicitly said they are welcome.

If you want guidance on giving reviews, check out our Review Guidelines and Resources.

As always, if you have any concerns or questions about the exchange or the reviews you received, please contact us through modmail.

Happy Shlonging! ⛱️

PSA + June Calendar ⛱️

Hi everyone,

We’d like to explain how we handle review monitoring, including what happens once reviews become overdue.

Review tracking is done manually by the mod team. Once a participant receives a second mod reminder asking them to contact us through modmail, they will also be added to Automod for pending reviews. This helps us track overdue reviews more efficiently as we cannot constantly monitor older exchange threads.

If you finish your overdue reviews after receiving the second reminder, please contact us through modmail instead of replying to the individual mod.

Modmail keeps everything in one place for the whole team, avoids missed notifications, and helps us clear you properly. Kindly wait for mod confirmation before joining any new exchanges. If you join before being cleared, your entry will be removed due to pending reviews.

Please allow up to 24 hours for a response as we are an international team across different timezones. We’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

🔥☔

June is almost here~ which means summer vacation has officially started for some of us. Over here, we’re already dealing with the very ironic combo of hella hot weather and the start of rainy season 🌦️

We have a lot going on... our annual Pride Month Exchanges and the start of the Fandom Showcase, which will be streamed on Discord every weekend throughout June and July.

You can find 2026 fests/events, important announcements, and guideline updates under the Fest/Event and Sub Stuff flairs.

We’ve also included the tentative Exchange Schedule hosted by Fight Club participants in the calendar.

💖🏳️‍🌈PRIDE MONTH EXCHANGES🌈✨

Hi y’all, our annual Pride Month Exchanges are almost here! 🏳️‍🌈

This sub has always been a safe, inclusive, and supportive space for everyone. So we wanna give some extra love to LGBTQIA+ stories and characters, and let the creators who bring them to life have the spotlight they deserve.

We’ll be hosting weekly themed review exchanges (REs) throughout June, with each RE posted on a Monday, depending on the hosting mod’s timezone:

June 1 – LGBTQIA+ Fluff
June 8 – LGBTQIA+ Angst
June 15 – LGBTQIA+ Romance
June 22 – LGBTQIA+ NSFW
June 29 – LGBTQIA+ Anything Goes

Pride has always been about more than one thing... Being seen. Being heard. Being able to exist as yourself—in joy, in defiance, in love, and in the right to live fully and loudly. We are proud to celebrate that here with all of you, one exchange at a time 🫂

Hi everyone,

We're almost halfway through the year and that can feel like a lot in different ways. Sometimes things are fine. Sometimes they're not. Sometimes you're just carrying things quietly bc there isn't really a right time to be okay, or not okay, or somewhere in between...

So we just wanted to open up a safe space here for anyone who needs it.

You're welcome to share anything you feel comfortable sharing. You can vent, ramble, talk about what's been weighing on you, share something that's been helping, or simply read through the thread and be reminded that you are not alone.

There's no pressure to be positive or to explain more than you want to. As you engage with each other, please be kind to one another and gentle with yourselves too. Offer support where you can but please don't feel expected to carry more than you are able to.

We'll also leave some mental health resources below, in case anyone needs them now or sometime later.

Heya again, everyone :)

Just checking in now that we’re ~2 weeks away from the OG-Fest Review Exchange! How are your fics going??

To participate, you’ll need to submit your entry in the review exchange posted on May 16. Please don’t start reviewing fics from the OG-Fest collection until the participant has entered the exchange.

You’re free to enter your fic in other REs and other participants can review your fic for those exchanges but if a review is meant to count for OG-Fest, please wait until the OG-Fest RE opens so we can properly track it.

The deadline to add your fic to the AO3 collection and enter the review exchange is May 18, 11:59 pm EDT.

In the “Post to Collections / Challenges” field, type/select: FanfictionExchange_OGFest2026

For the full event details and AO3 collection link, check the 👉🏻 OG-Fest Announcement

For concerns about participation or anything that may need mod assistance, please send us a modmail so we can sort it out.

We’re so excited to see everyone’s OG works and how y'all interpret Search. Happy writing and goodluck!
