Looking for feedback on your fic? A beta reader might be what you're looking for.

A beta reads your work and gives feedback on what's working and what's not to help you strengthen it. Depending on what you need, they can help with things like SPaG (spelling, punctuation, and grammar), characterization, flow/pacing, plot, world-building/setting, dialogue, sensory details, continuity, sensitivity, or constructive criticism, etc. They can also offer fresh perspective and point out things you may not have considered yourself.

If that sounds like what you're looking for, please use the Beta Search flair. Beta Search posts are meant for finding beta readers, not promoting your work. Please do not include direct AO3/FFN links or ask for kudos, comments, or any other engagement on your work.

To help prospective betas know whether they're a good fit for your work, please include the following information in your Beta Search post:

• Fandom
• Ship (if applicable)
• Rating (G–General, T–Teen and Up, M–Mature, E–Explicit)
• Approximate word count

We're kicking things off with –TOBERfest (Whump, Fluff, Kink, and OC-themed exchanges) every Saturday next month, depending on the hosting mod's timezone.

We're also bringing back our Halloween streaming marathon on Discord!! We'll have sign-ups and more details up sometime soon. It will run from October 30th 8pm AEST (Australian Eastern) through November 1st 11pm PST (Pacific) ...so basically a full weekend of movies and shows. They don't have to be horror or particularly scary. Anything Halloween-themed that's fun or lighthearted is welcome 👻

September is my birthday month, and since so many of the stories I write revolve around ships, I thought it’d be fun celebrating with a series of themed exchanges~

So... rarepair is a pairing/ship that has relatively few fanfics in its fandom and makes up only a small part of the fandom’s overall works.

There is no fixed number or percentage requirement here since fandom sizes vary. If your pairing/ship is genuinely considered rare within your fandom, it counts. Crossover ships and crackships are welcome, provided it’s rare. OC ships are not included as it will have its own SHIPtember RE next week.

To enter, you may submit up to three (3) fics and in return you must read and review two (2) fics by two (2) different authors.

Please include in your entry: Title/Link, Fandom, 💖Pairing + how rare is your pair💖, Rating, Summary, Warnings (⚠️use spoiler for NSFW and/or triggering content⚠️), and your Review Counter (0/2) tracks how many reviews you’ve completed.

Welcome to the SEPTEMBER edition of our Monthly Shlong Swap Review Exchange!

In this exchange, we offer up our short-long fics and swap with other writers for a minimum of 10k words.

WHAT IS A SHLONG?

DEADLINES – all are 11:59 PM EDT (UTC-4):
To enter: September 7th
To finalize swaps: September 10th
To complete swaps: September 24th

THE RULES:

1. Offer up a long fic, or a specific arc of a long fic, which is at least 10k words. Works must be posted at the time of the swap. In your entry, include: title and link, fandom, rating, summary, any content warnings (spoiler triggering and NSFW content), and the word count being offered (specifying whether this refers to the whole fic, a set number of chapters, or an arc).
2. Look through the thread to find stories to swap for. Swaps can be for chapter count, word count, or a combination of both, provided it’s explicitly agreed between both parties upfront. You may turn down a proposed swap for any reason, you don't need to explain why.
3. Record your swaps clearly, including the Reddit username of your swap partner (without the “u/”) and a counter for the number of chapters you have agreed to review. Mark swaps once they are complete, as below:

>Swap 1: Reddit Username – 0/2
Swap 2: Reddit Username – 3/5
Swap 3: Reddit Username – 10/10 – completed

Participants may not have more than three (3) incomplete swaps at any time.

If you are unable to find a swap partner by the deadline, you have no review obligations. However, please do not delete your entry, as the mod team will need to take note of this.
