Neighbors mad at piano playing piano at home
I have a standup piano in my living room. We play it occasionally, at respectful times (never after 10pm or Sundays, and maybe 2-3x a week).
Today, after 15-20mins of playing at 18:00, my (very German) neighbor from downstairs was at my door essentially saying “this is loud, it’s annoying me, thus you have to stop”.
I pushed back and said “well it’s a respectful time, I’m allowed to practice and I won’t play too long”, but her vibe was sorta “it disturbs me and thus it shouldn’t happen” amongst several other things like “don’t you have a rehearsal room??”
What to do here? It’s important to keep a respectful neighbor relationship, but I feel it’s unrealistic that you WONT get disturbed by a neighbors activities sometimes. For example, these same neighbors smoke cigs that waft into our flat … I don’t like it, but it’s their right to do what they want.
