Time taken from BGV to offer letter and start date?

Hi everyone, I recently accepted an offer from a vendor whose client is GS. During my last round of interview, I also spoke to one of the senior managers in GS. I accepted the vendor offer on April 22nd and I’m waiting to start on the bgv process from GS as well. So far I haven’t received any bgv related email from GS and I was wondering what’s the clearance timeline like. I was told that my ideal start date would be around June 1st but I’ve heard that GS checks can take anywhere between 2-4 weeks. I’ve been getting other offers and I really need to make a decision.

How do you along with your Indian friends after spending 6-7 years abroad?

I recently came back to india from Canada where I’ve lived for about 7 years. I’m in my mid twenties and I was curious to know how people in similar situations feel about meeting their close friends back home.

I recently met up with a very close friend of mine with whom I’ve been friends since my childhood. The very first thing I noticed was when I was having a conversation with another friend of hers, she was constantly interrupting her to explain the story. I thought that was very disrespectful and annoying but I didn’t mention that to her. She’s also not a great listener especially if you have something to share. There has been a time when I was talking about my breakup and she was constantly drawing parallels with her breakup story. That also pissed me off because I wanted someone to just listen to me and sympathise with me. I’ve started to notice some things that I never once experienced with my friends in Canada and I thought as you grow old you just learn these things.

Situation:

• Actual hours worked: ~3,032 hrs
• 2-year work ex threshold: 3,120 hrs
• Shortfall: ~88 hrs

IRCC’s system calculates by month, appearing to round start dates to the 1st, adding ~118 extra hours:

Actual Start System Start Extra Hours
Nov 6 Nov 1 ~20 hrs
Jul 28 Jul 1 ~77 hrs
Oct 6 Oct 1 ~21 hrs

System total: ~3,150 hrs, clearing the threshold by ~30 hrs, giving a CRS score of 499 (instead of 474 if only 1 year of work ex is counted)

Question: Is this calculation correct, or could the 88 hr real shortfall be flagged during PR processing? Do I need to consult an immigration consultant because this seems like an edge case?

My work permit expired so I am hoping to gain foreign experience points so I need to know what my exact score is (474 vs 499) so I can plan accordingly.

Hi all, I was wondering how the work experience scores are calculated because it is based on start and end months instead of the exact dates of employment. I’ve had a few part time and full time jobs and the total hours adds up to 3032 and I’m ~100 hours short of 3120. But my application portal shows 499 (counting 2 years work experience) since Feb 2026 which was my last working day. I am no longer working so I cannot increase the work hours anymore.

I am hoping to gain foreign experience points so I need to know what my exact score is (474 vs 499) so I can plan accordingly.

Hey guys, I have a really important question regarding my Canadian work experience points. My EE profiles calculates my points to be 499. However, I’m not sure if it’s accurate because i know they round up a couple of months prior. (Last working day - 28 Feb 2026) I asked Claude to calculate my work exp breakdown and they say I have 3013 hours of exp only if IRCC allows combining the two NOCs (both TEER 1). Stat holidays were paid for me and I have not taken any unpaid holidays. Someone please help I don’t know if my real score is 474 or 499😭😭😭

Work exp breakdown:
