Why use .nc files in Makerables?

This is an honest question. I get that people want it to be as plug-and-play as possible, but the site using .nc files seems extremely limiting. It does feel like uploading a finished CAM file, as well as any stls would just be more helpful. Right now you have to follow really specific instructions just because of the workflow of milling. I don't think using the .nc files skips that very much while also limiting any possibility of modification or just wanting to work with a different material. I like the idea of makerables and the workflow images, and everything is nice, but to follow these guides I would need to buy very specific blanks for each project, which is just not feasible. What is the community feeling on the website at the moment?

Makera 4th axis homing

Hey I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue. The three axis works and homes fine. But the fourth axis spins but never homes and throws an error. I don’t even know what honing is on a rotery axis. I can control the rotary axis and rotate the chuck, but the trying to move the x,y or z axis throws a hard limit reached error. I have been struggling with the setup of the makera z1. I’ve done milling in the past but keep running into specific idiosyncrasies with this machine.

Resin printing feel

So question to more experienced people here. When I started printing a few years ago I tested a few resins and ended up really likening the anycubic rough resin solely for the feel of the finished parts. I am not taking about tackiness or stickiness but the softness of the finished parts? So much of what I end up printing now has a brittle hardness feeling to it and I cannot find a way to get back to the professional model feel that my printer gave me a few years ago.

Im not sure if the resin formula changed or what.

I was just wondering if 1) anyone knows what I’m talking about or am I just crazy

  1. if there is any curing or specific resin recommendations

The only thing I’ve found that helps is to really limit the curing process so it doesn’t get too hard.

Anyway any help would be appreciated!
