What do I do with an r4.06 referral certificate?

I called around a few barrister lists and have been told there are barristers interested in my case but since it’s already in progress and the judge doesn’t what an adjournment, they don’t have enough time to rep.

The case got slightly delayed and closing submissions are on Thursday.

Can anyone recommend an avenue to get some assistance? I’ve been royally fucked by the paperwork side of things so far, as a person with a disability affecting executive function, to the point my own diagnosis letter from my psychiatrist was kicked out before I could even say a word about it… the respondent’s counsel keeps throwing words around like prejudice and unfairness… how is it fair to kick out my diagnosis letter that I waited months for and paid thousands for and that has allowed me to get meds that actually help?

I’m self represented and have been doing the best I can with the tools I have. The judge issued the r4.06 referral before the trial but it says on there that it applies to all future trials too, it’s very broad in scope.

Anyway, if anyone has any advice I would really appreciate it. Happy to chat in DMs too if you need more details.

If you’re a junior barrister looking to cut your teeth, this would be a challenging but interesting case (Fair Work, GP).

Need help finding a medical expert provide medical report for court (VIC, Australia)

Hi foks.

I'm going to court in the next couple of weeks against my ex-employer and I need to find a medical expert willing to provide a report linking ADHD manifestations and performance feedback I received... it's all the stock standard, broad categories of manifestations - focus, time management, forgetting details, getting distracted... but despite how widely accepted these common manifestations of ADHD are, and the wealth of credible information available, the companies lawyers _still_ want me to provide expert medical evidence.

I even have a formal diagnosis, schedule 8 medication (dexamfetamine), my doctor, my therapists have all provided reports, plus the actual assessment report and a support letter from my psychiatrist... still not enough... FFS - it's absolutely ridiculous... it literally feels like I'm being pulled over by the cops, I show them my valid license, have been driving for years, and they say "well you aren't qualified to drive unless you get an expert driving assessor to tell us you are qualified... otherwise we're going to take your license away"... I've got the fucking license, why do I need anything else? _end rant_...

I've been out of work for a year, I'm broke AF and can't afford the thousands of dollars the psychiatrists want to provide the service... I'm wondering if there is a PhD or other kind of expert floating around the community who might be willing to help or if someone has had a similar experience and been able to solve it?

Thanks in advance!

I’m in court in a couple of weeks and have no legal representation

Hi friends.

I’ve been self-representing in a Fair Work claim (Victoria) for the last year against my previous employer, who I’ve alleged dismissed me because of my AuDHD.

I’ve got a strong case. I took notes at every meeting as my manager spoke, he thought out loud a lot of the time, so there were a lot of long periods of slow talking… great for getting all the details.

Things is, I’m shit scared of actually going to court because it means standing in front of people and talking… I have an immense fear of public talking, especially when I feel like people don’t believe what I’m saying. There have been so many times my brain will just freeze, even in situations where I feel comfortable.

I’ve spoken to lawyers and the quote for a 3 day trial with a barrister representing me is 50k from every firm I’ve talked to. It seems no one does no-win-no-fee or pro-bono for cases like this.

I’m wondering about requesting accommodations from the court, in the form of either court appointed representation or at least someone who is comfortable talking in front of people on my behalf. I know this isn’t typically permitted, but given the nature of my case, and the judge who has been quite accommodating thus far, I was wondering if it might be worth asking for something.

Has anyone had any experience with this sort of thing? Any advice would be appreciated!

Since we’re all sharing our loss porn…

Seriously though… this IS NOT OKAY. Stop bending over and just accepting all the price hikes.

Seemingly out of nowhere, they just jacked the usage rate of Opus 4.7 from 7.5x to 15x... honestly feels like model pricing is being run by a team of monkeys...
