Looking for new car but this is crazy?

Recently been looking into a new car current 2018 Kia Optima 2.4 xl at almost 200k km, got a baby on the way and want something reliable for the next handful of years with no issue as all the money is about to be for diapers, but also decent space as I work as an electrician. From packing in tool to baby and groceries, I find I almost have more space in this Optima then a Honda CRV. ( Minus the hatch back benefits )

I enjoy the interior of the Kia Optima very roomy compared to a civic, but these engine issues and other problems have been complete nonsense. Oil burning using Lucas oils and Valvoline restore anyway.

I started to look and the prices are crazy, I am in Canada so AWD is huge for winter time but 48k is wild ( 34k usd ). ( 45k cad/ 32,689usd without extra B's upgrades )

The reason for trying to go new is I will know everything that's happened to the car and maintenance as idk how much I trust an Uber driver to do his regular maintenance or most people for that matter.

I'm more of a sedan type guy or coupe but the coupe is out of the question, I don't want a truck as gas prices are going up and not being a fan of the loose steering on a truck just makes me feel like I'm on ice all the time.

Should I consider just getting the fwd which is a bit cheaper or just go used?

Side note mother is interested in babies safety too so she's willing to throw in a few bones
