Check engine light is on but mechanics can’t figure out the issue

So I’ve got a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze Limited LT. For about two months now the check engine light has been on but mechanics can’t find anything wrong with the car. It was driving normally until a couple weeks ago it felt like it was backfiring while running idle. Want to add the check engine light and backfiring feeling has been inconsistent, on a few days, then off a couple, and back on again. The mechanics see in the car's computer history that there were codes regarding the engine but can’t find anything actively going on with the car. The car's been at a Chevrolet dealership service for a week now, they say that although the check engine light remains on the car is running normally.

Really just looking to see if anyone has advice or experienced something similar before? I haven’t found anything online indicating it but wonder if this is a familiar issue with my car’s model. The mechanics have been keeping me in the loop, been performing tests and driving it around trying to get the car to show any sign of active issues but debating if it’s worth bringing to a different garage/dealership service or if they would be in the same conundrum. Thank you!
